Letting Beau Ryan go isn't the end of the world. He had a decent year and id like him here, but the fact is we have a host of wingers with Koroibete, Nofolomu, Grant and maybe Utai (who is good value for his price). Plus if absolutely desperate our premier league wingers can do a job. Lets put this frank, its only wingers, you don't need 5 of them in a first grade squad.
Also keep in mind Ryan wanted a 3 year deal, meaning wed be signing him to be playing until he was 30\. There aren't many wingers who are good enough to still be going well at 30…. look at the impact someone like Luke Burt (A similar to Ryan player) has had in his last few years.
The fact is we have a host of wingers and Koroibete and Nofolomu need to be the priorities. The other fact is Ryan could only really hinder these two... particularly with a three year contract. You only need two wingers on the field and despite what others think, Ryan isn't good enough to be shifted into centre. Sheens has to bite the bullet and only pick 2 wingers and he's done that.
I should also note, while Moltzen and Ayshford were very poor this year, we really don't have depth in those positions so while Ryan does deserve to stay over them, I can actually see the logic in what Sheens is doing.
While I love Ryan and like his commitment, I fail to see this loss ever coming back to bite us. Ryan had a good year, but it wasn't as "amazing" as some people make out.
㊗
