Again don’t think anyone is against the move to LO just would’ve preferred Campbelltown as it hasn’t got a game with crowds all season
**The club always loves to use Leichhardt for things like this though. Every big game and important milestone always seems to end up there while Campbelltown gets the scraps.**
OK admittedly I have been going to LO for a long time and love the place, but I really dont think its a conspiracy, nor do I think that LO is "better" than CSS. IMO it is just a much easier sell to the media and the neutral public as a "Spectacle" or an event. LO isnt better than CSS but it does have the heritage/nostalgia aspect to the image that CSS doesnt have and accordingly is easier to sell as "Boutique". Plus obviously closer to inner city & inner west. For mine its simply marketing.
I agree it’s definitely marketing. It’s seen as the spiritual home ground of Tigers and fans love going there so of course fans will attend. When Campbelltown gets good games like bulldogs vs tigers last year there was a good 15,000 people there and it was great. Unfortunately they always seem to get less favourable games crowd wise.
End of the day I’d love to have 6 home games at each. 3 at each simply isn’t enough but the club is still contracted to play at bankwest/ANZ
The corporate facilities aren't there at the local grounds to make enough $$$. It's not an option unless the stadiums are redeveloped and some big corporates move in. Typically you'll also need more sports than just the one to draw the big names.
Leichhardt will never get to that point, but potentially cambo will at some stage.
