Knock on him would be that he's never been able to play big minutes because of his size and as a result, fitness.
I think Madge sees how effective Tom could be if he dropped some kegs.

As I mentioned to Willow ...I didn't recognize him at 1st ...I thought he may have been Tuilagi ......both Stefano and Mikaele impressed ...but again ...they didn't have much in front of them ...more answers after Rd 1 I guess

If Amone rehabs well and is fit then he'd grab a bench spot Fo Sho by the end of season. Good ball playing skills as well.

Instant upgrade over Packer and Mikaele. And he and Stefano would be quite the sight coming off the bench...

Yet a player like Peni Terepo remains unsigned .....130 NRL games , 29 year old ...and we take a 9 gamer ....we need to aim higher imo

Peni Terepo retired end of last year due to being diagnosed with epilepsy.

There is no value in keeping Packer for this season. Subsidised release maybe the smart play for all parties.

There is value in keeping Packer...he has loads of experience and the young blokes look up to him..it showed in our recent trial...lets be happy that we have so much depth and particularly experience to make a strong surge for finals footy...

Plus he’s our “hit man” when a dog shot is required !

sidenote...many on here crucify Packer for his misdememours which he has paid for,he was very good at the start of his contract with us and Madge and co seem to think highly of him...I will let them sort out his future...

Where is all this stuff about Packer being a mentor to the young forwards coming from? I don't believe that for a second.

The bloke went from everyday criminal to white collar criminal, thieving a living from the Wests Tigers. The sooner that lowlife is out of the club the better.

I down voted you mate because many people can learn by their mistakes and help others have better lives...I dont know about your upbringing but I was always taught that people have a second chance of redeeming themselves..Packer may not be a person you want to speak highly about and thats completely up to you,however until people have walked a mile in Russes shoes then they can condemn the man...

You could be right. Anyone left questioning if this team is stronger than previous years need only consider that at this stage, Packer, Mikaele, Garner, MCK probably dont make the 17 let alone Seyfarth.

For all the angst at him being let go, Im not sure Sam McIntyre would have made it tbh.

TukiMonster takes care of any Sam Mac issue.

Plus Sam is struggling to make the Titans bench now. And I doubt he'd feature on ours at full or near full strength...

I was at the game yesterday, that traitor Aloiai looked so much smaller than our forwards....enjoy playing finals footy JA with Blacktown workers, also wonder what Tapau thinks of the WT forwards now...

He doesn't seem like much of a loss now hey!

It made me laugh when Ben Ikin said on the Fox launch that we're a bottom 4 team as we just don't have a good list. We didn't finish in the bottom 4 last year and our roster is immensely better. Can't wait for the lads to put egg on faces throughout the year.

Your opinion entirely,he made an aweful error,but then again so have quite a few others in the NRL and seem to get plaudits for their playing style..no mention of their misdemenours..Packer paid his price,went to uni to better himself,was great the first year he was here and people applauded him and Matalino,now that the narrative doesnt suit some,lets bring back his past and not give him credit for turning his life around and helping the young ones play football and keep out of TROUBLE...

side note mate...I got myself in trouble many years ago..I belted a guy who thought he was the best thing since sliced bread and bellittled,degraded and abused good people because he worked for the local Magistrate...I did what I did because I wanted to help people...It got me a 2 year good behavior bond and cost me $10000..some people even his own relations praised me because they knew what an a hole he was ..others pictured me as a piece of scum in society..
I just went about my work and life and whatever people thought of me I took in my stride...
the point Im making I dont know what Russel was thinking but it happened and as far as Im concerned has paid his dues,same as I did...difference is Im not an NRL star playing in the big arena and being in the spotlight 24/7...

What he did wasn't good. It wasn't a curb stomp though from all reports.
He paid his price by way of a jail sentence though.....plenty of others haven't had to do that.
