Wests Tigers are pleased to announce the signing of forward Tom Amone, effective immediately, for the 2021 NRL season.

An Australian Schoolboy and Junior Kiwis representative player, who has already proven himself at the NRL level, the 24-year-old Amone will add further talent and depth to the Wests Tigers engine room following his immediate arrival to the club.

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire welcomed Amone’s arrival to Wests Tigers.

“Tom has shown he has what it takes to make it at the NRL level so we’re very pleased to have secured his services for the season ahead,” Maguire said.

“Having overcome some adversity, Tom has worked hard to be ready for the season ahead and I’m looking forward to him adding further to our forward pack this year.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe congratulated Amone on his new deal.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to welcome Tom to Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said.

“Tom’s experience and capabilities at the NRL level make him an excellent addition to our squad at this point of the year and we’re delighted to welcome him on board.

“Tom has shown an enthusiasm and desire to contribute at this club right away and we’re looking forward to watching him do that in the year ahead.”

Amone will link up with the club immediately and begin training with the squad this week ahead of Wests Tigers’ season opener against the Canberra Raiders on March 14.

A big lad with plenty of potential
Probably on peanuts also...our recruitment has improved out of sight.
A few years ago we would sign a kid like this and chuck him straight in and expect him to perform as an elite front rower.with our current pack he has time and experience around him to slowly improve his game.

More depth is always a good thing and I suspect this bloke will thrive in the WT system, can't remember seeing our squad look this fit and strong so whatever they're doing is working. Let's see what he can do in NSW Cup before writing the bloke off.

We still have 2 spots left, there are no superstars to sign at this point in time, so I see no issue with it, if he was number 30 then maybe, but he is number 28

Very good signing for a player signed 28th on the roster. Our NSW Cup side this year will be strong. Depth and competition for spots also very solid.

Now signing Tom Amone our depth upfront is ridiculous.Tamou, Twal, Ofehengaue, Utoikamanu, Mikalele, Amone, Musgrove.

There is no value in keeping Packer for this season. Subsidised release maybe the smart play for all parties.
