Tuqiri future up in the air

To be brutally honest, I wouldn't offer Lote anything for next year. The time has come for him to move on. He got a great contract out of us and we got some quality football from him for a while, although it has been a steady decline since last year and plagued with injuries, with the exception of the last couple of weeks where he is obviously playing for another contract.

If we want to win a premiership we have to make some tough decisions. At 32, we have long since seen the best from Lote. It's time to give another younger, faster, stronger and more passionate footballer a chance. We have plenty of wingers in the club.

I know I'm not the only one that holds my breathe every time Lote gets near the ball. He won't be any faster, better or less injury prone next year when he is older and has a contract sewn up again. I can't imagine how much worse he will be the year after. Please let him move on and leave us on good terms this year rather than chasing him out the door in the future with a golden handshake and another lost opportunity to bring through our juniors earlier.

Agree completely. We got what we wanted out of him..times up.

X2

It's a real shame that Lote and Lawrence can't seem to reproduce that lethal left edge combination they had going in 2010\. Serious injuries to both guys last year cut it short and apparently cruelled any chance of us ever seeing it again. I would give Lote one more year in hopes that he and Lawrence could resurrect that form. Sadly though, I believe the time has now passed - bummer it was so short 😢

I think Marika Koroiebete will be on the left wing next year and we will be better for it. The kid has pace to burn, and great strength. Lote has been a great player and it is a pity injury has slowed him ther last few years but we will have anothe Fijian Flyer on the left wing next year.

Dont think Lotes future is "up in the air" at all after his exhibition tonite…its surely landed on the ground along with the football when it usually comes near him.
He's not even the "present"let alone the future
Sad demise of what was once the best winger in either code

Looking slow and unable to keep up with the pace of the game and his hands are terrible ..I rekon even he knows probable his last year in the NRL

Surely Lote can't be resigned , he's form doesn't warrant it. It's been 2 years since i've seen him play well for us. We can't risk loosing our wingers in the under 20's. LOOK AFTER OUR FUTURE…....

Okay their form has been down, but they dont have a no6 throwing magic passes into space that starts the attacking raid–that no 6 is playing no7 and is struggling

That's an excuse for his attack(although I hold my breath every time a ball is passes to him as he drops so many)

But in d he is a worry… He is slow compared to many other wingers, takes him 3 years to turn, and he is a worry under high ball as it appears he has butter fingers.

Initially Lote was maintaining his quality by powerful running but he really hasn't done that since his injuries last year. I expected him to come good by about now, but last game was terrible. Not only has his speed slowly waned but his power has too.

So I now have to agree with what many have said here that his time is up, we have been good for each other but enough is enough. Bring on Marika. Winger is a young mans position, and Lote isn't.

Tuquiri is a champion - but everybody gets old and slows down.
Hate to see him go out by being dumped to reggies and think he can still kick it in this year just on class.
He brings a lot of credibility and corporate dollars to the club - would be good if we could keep him on next year possibly in a skills coaching role.
A great role model and mentor for all the young guys coming through - had his share of highs (and a few lows) and could show them all the ropes.

There's no doubt he's still a valued commodity for this club. If he doesn't stay around next season it won't be because we thought he was no use to us. It will be a case of Tuqiri taking the right offer for himself and at his age you couldn't begrudge him that. I still think the ideal scenario is that he signs a new deal whilst i our young wingers start next season in NSW Cup. It's a luxury we c an afford. Best case scenario would be that they would eventually warrant first grade selection after tearing up the NSW Cup.

What ever happened to I'm not gunna stand in the way of youngsters coming through, $$$$$$ not what's best for the game or the team
