Uate?

We have a history of getting value out of wingers whose career's were seemingly over. Lote, Utai etc.

Utai is a fair shout, though he was playing park football rather than being under contract in the NRL. That is to say, there was very little financial risk, either in real or salary cap dollars.
Tuqiri was basically a marquee signing when we grabbed him, very much still in his prime (and played for Australia that year). He slowed down from 2011 onwards due to the various and repeated injuries he picked up.

Please tell me this is BS?

It would be a step backwards as defensively he is clueless.
I know his contracted to the Knights next year if the Knights want to pay 75% of his Contract then will take him of them otherwise wouldn't bother.
Need a defensive Centre more than anything ( right sided)

Surely we will be slowly stepping up our quality of signings not stupid budgeted signings.
We don't need other Clubs unwanted players, after all there unwanted for a reason.

Elijah Taylor was unwanted by another club.

On Uate, it's a rumour that is gaining momentum. It's been discussed for at least the last week. He'll be earning 500K next yr, and the Knights understandably don't want to pay that much for a player no longer in their plans. Sounds familiar doesn't it

Just haven't got round to merging them yet…the internet here in QLD is 1980 dial up speed...similar to Uate really...

Done...

Kev has gone from a fringe winger to a dangerous nrl centre with defensive issues. I think we are underestimating his progress and contribution over the past two years. He was one of our best last year and, although at times looks lost in the centres, I think is proving a very astute buy and good value for money. He is the type of player every club needs and will be valuable to us moving forward as our list improves. He is the type of player every club needs.

Kev is a tough one… in attack he is certainly capable of breaking the line and pulling off some exciting plays - he has scored or had a hand in a lot of great tries for us. However in defence we all know he is not so great. I am still not sure that all the problems he looks to have in D are 100% attributable to him, although his reads are often poor and he often rushes up to tackle thin air.
I love his enthusiasm though and he seems to love it at the tigers - can't one of our Coaches please sort his D out???
As for Uate - no more gambling with older players who are no longer hungry!

I agree with the last two posts re Kevin N . He has come ahead in leaps and bounds over the past 2 years with us, and he has quite a few tries under his belt as well. Can't someone help him with his defence rather than move him on.

Absolutely disagree - he's a luxury player. Someone that a top team can use for his pros and cover for his cons. We're not there for the latter portion.

He's very strong offensively, elusive and strong. Can get around his man and get his winger into space.
On the other side of the ball, he's close to a liability. Makes poor reads, falls off tackles when he does make contact when rushing up, not great under the high ball either.
We need to get his defensive side sorted, or look elsewhere.

He is a good attacking player
In Defense he would do much better in the middle if there were others to cover for his errors
Because Nofo has been as bad as him this year there is no helping one another..

They can still make it work but for most part they are doing 2 different things

I hope the club signs Uate …. If a change in club helps him return to the form that got him a blues and Roos jumper .... I'm all for it ...

We should sign Gordon or Mead from the Titans.

I agree with you if the club was looking for a better value
I dont see much of a point signing Uate if his price is $500k

If he comes at the right price with bulk of it funded by Knights then offer him a lifeline for 1 year i think

Otherwise there are better value inform players for much less coin (if we are looking to sign someone)

If you're talking Michael Gordon he has signed with the Roosters for next year and if you're talking Kevin Gordon he has retired from football to pursue his acting career…or his rap career...anyway something stupid that he will fail at.

Ricksen….granted that Kev has some failings. He is not quite an nrl centre. If we were to snag a good right centre....who would you prefer as a backup Kev or Keith Lulia. Because that where the club has come from.

Agree that he's clearly a step up on Lulia, but talk about damning with faint praise…
As you say, he's not quite there. We need to help him get there or move on.

Our right hand side has never been the same since 4 Try Keith departed….

I almost put Keith Lulia in the anasta class of useless recruits. Worse part about anasta is he talks as if he is an authority on the Tigers. He is everything that was wrong with our club….absolute parasite.
