OFFICIAL UFC & MMA Discussion

I really enjoyed Aldo v Mendes in 2014\. It was a classic fight where pretty much every technique was used and at the end they had to go to points.

Dan Henderson v Shogun Rua in 2011 is rated by many as the best ever and it was brutal. Two big guys went toe to toe for what seemed like forever. It was scary.

For me though, the one that will always stand out is the final of the first TUF programme between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar in 2005\. The winner got a six figure UFC contract and the loser had to keep trying for another shot. Griffin was this ugly red neck dude who looked like he had been in a thousand knuckles and most probably had. Bonnar looked like a yuppie accountant lol. Griffin was the more talented but Bonnar flicked a switch once he got hurt and went psycho. The fight was only three rounds but it was a total war with both giving every ounce they had. The punishment both took would end six fights these days. In the end Griffin got the nod but when he was being presented with his contract, Dana grabbed the microphone and announced there was no loser in that fight and both would get contracts. It was amazing.

Anyone a member on MMA-****** ?

The most entertaining fights are those heavy hitters who go toe to toe in a slug fest.

You can't go wrong watching any of the guys fights below as they are consistent performers who put on a show, even though 1 sided for the most part.
Fedor Emelianenko, Conor McGregor, Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva & Jose Aldo (earlier fights).

^Absolutely! I forgot about Forrest vs Bonnar, it was a gem and normally gets mentioned as the best ever. Hard to argue. Dan Henderson was always a favourite to watch-he looked like an unhinged fella with his toothless grin and seemed like a no-bs bloke that would be terrific to share a few coldies with.

Curious as to what UFC fights people on here rate as the best of all time.
For entertainment and brutality I would put the Diego Sanchez v Gilbert Melendez one up there. Brian Stann v Wanderlai Silva. Many of Robbie Lawler's fights are bloodbaths, apparently his last battle vs Carlos Condit was a great fight as well ( I didn't see it), hopefully the replay will be shown on Fox in the next few months. Mark Hunt vs Bigfoot Silva was a good one as well.

Been a big time UFC for a long time.
Was heavy into it then kinda lost interest but been watching religiously for close to the last two years.

Stann VS Silva was good cos I don't like Stann & the war god Silva always puts on a show. As soon as I heard sandstorm, from his Pride entrance days - I knew it was on.

Don't like Robbie Lawler at all - another chump I can't see being champ for very long. Liked his fight with Nick Diaz though.

Been a bunch of good fights.

Looking forward to seeing FRANK MIR smash MARK HUNT in a few weeks.

Mmajunkie?
I used to be on the forums but with the arrival of Rhonda and Connor came an army of the most annoying fans you'll ever cross paths with.

I dont think any of them were good fights….. they were great viewing.

They were all kind of like our game vs the warriors, entertaining to watch, though it was a terrible game if you were to rate it on a footballing level.

Yep, that's why I said for entertainment and brutality those fights stuck in my mind. If you watched for pure technical perfection then 25 minutes of blokes spooning each other with the occasional reacharound doesn't equate to much excitement for me. A good slugfest is what most wanna see and brings in the crowds more than a technical clinic.

I use to post on a few MMA forums….

Know a few UFC/MMA fans in real life now though
So stick to the arm chair expert discussions in real life now, lol.

If anyone wants to watch the Conor vs Diaz fight (single fight) from a different camera view that also doesn't have the usual commentary from Joe Rogan, pm me for the link.

The audio on the video is from Diaz coach shouting instructions throughout the fight.
Great ringside perspective/insight for a different experience. Quality good enough for viewing on computer sized screen. file size (150mb)

Ken Shamrock and Kymbo Slice test positive to PED's after wins at Bellator 149.

I don't even understand why these guys are still fighting. I get that they need the money but they aren't producing good fights.

Well they are still fighting because that's what they do. Whether they are good anymore is besides the point. Fighters fight.

It adds weight to the Diaz brothers claims though.

Live from BRISBANE!

I'm working Sunday - but I'll make it home in time for most of the main card.
Not a fan of Mark Hunt - so keen to see Mir do some damage and get the win.

Very decent card and for free!

Lots of good events coming up to UFC 200.

Tips boyos?

Mir to win by submission. Hunt is too one- dimensional against blokes who arent stupid enough to just stand and trade with him. Mir is pretty well-rounded.
Then again after the upsets of two weeks ago I've got NFI who will come out on top.
Haven't seen much of Lombard or Magny but from all the preview opinions it will be a good fight too. Are those two strikers Demps or more into the ground game?

It is free…...provided you cough up for Foxtel in the first place!

lol, you fellas will be disappointed…. for a few years now Mirs game plan seems to be prop up against the fence and be beaten to a pulp until his knees give out, where he seems to roll the dice on staying conscious long enough to throw up a hail Mary sub. Sounds harsh, but it honestly seems to be his game plan.

Mir will go out in brutal fashion, bank on it.

Matthews would be my other lock on that card. That kid will be something special.

I'm keen on is Neil Magny vs. Hector Lombard.

I have only seen 1 of Neil's fight (against Silva), so I don't know much about him.

Seen most of Lombard's fights, the guy was scary when he use to go in for 1st round kills.
He changed his style to try pace himself throughout fights, but I don't think he is the same fighter without that Mike Tyson style aggression. Guy has severe power behind his hits.

curious to see if he has lost any size, as he is coming off a year ban for using PED's.

As for Hunt, his fights are only entertaining when opponents are stand and trade as Fade To Black mentioned in 1 of thes post above. Mir will be too smart for that.

I love Mark Hunt. His striking and power are unreal. It's a good card as well. Lombard vs Magnay should be good and I want to see Te-Huna fight.
