Under Performing Players

I live in Perth WA - I love WA but they have promised the WA NRL that we would be our own entity. WA pirates - I love the WESTS TIGERS and she is too important to let go. It is time for the suits and skirts (politically correct) at Tigers HQ to get PHIL GOULD in to clean the cancer what is stopping us from being the club we should be.

Maybe they should give free tickets out to every Wests Tigers Supporter on the first home ground games (Campbelltown and Liechardt Oval)

Reason I say this is that they can jam pack everyone in there till the restrictions have been met.

You’d assume that a bigger crowd of out supporters would LIFT the spirits of some of the team members..

You need to read between the lines with the Tigers. Over the last few years recruited Blore, Utoikamanu, Luciano, Tuilagi, Simpkin, Simpkins, Laurie, Douihei, Hoffman, Kepoa, A lot of young junior reps also. A few hard heads with experience in Tamou, Ofehengaue and some options with get out clauses Jet and BJ.

This is not the recruitment of a club that’s trying to win now. Tamou is right we are like the Panthers but closer to 2013 version. It’s a hard slog but the club is taking the right path with its investment in path ways.

I just hope we change our media and promotions area and start telling everyone what it is. It’s a long hard rebuild and it’s why Madge was extended he wasn’t sticking around on a short term contract with the Tigers position.

We don’t want to accept it as it’s a decade out of finals but it’s the reality. The squad is better this year but reality is top teams are miles ahead.

It is the recruitment of a feeder club. Get people signed and 50 games of NRL experience before they are picked off by bigger clubs.

It is a shame that the NRL does not have transfer fees.

I haven;t gone to a game now for almost 2 years. Haven’t had a membership for 4 years now

Like "us"? You haven't been to a game for 2 years or membership for longer. I am guessing you haven't bought a jersey.

All well and good to give up on the team but there's a group of supporters that I am part of, and by your subscription, pretty sure you aren't a part of my group.

And what does it mean that I'm not a part of your group? Somehow you guys are superior supporters to me?

And the reason I said 12 teams was simply because the NRL doesn't have the same talent pool anymore. Andrew Johns has been banging on about this for 2 years as well.

Unfortunately, businesses fail, organisations fail and teams fail. This team hasn't been in the premiership race for 10 years and won't be anywhere close to it for another 3-4 years at least.

You and your "group" can keep supporting them and cheering them, full respect to you. But the last game I went to was the Round 26 game against Cronulla and then after COVID last year, I have no motivation to go to games.

The club has done very well of hyping up every season and it has one of the biggest supporter basis in the NRL. I think we are in the Top 6 for membership sales every year.

My passion for this team is decreasing every year and there would be many more like me.

He wasn't banging on about it when the Knights were getting the spoon though - was he?

I think he was, but Knights have a richer history than ours and serve a bigger and more important area than ours. Penrith/Parra/Bulldogs could easily absorb WT.

I've been disappointed with Tamou (C) also... And Joe O has been underwhelming to me.

We seem to excel at recruiting half decent/good/rep level alestablished first graders and turn them into plodders
I've seen this in the workplace... It's a culture thing..

This has been going on at WTs for ever... I'm starting to think the JV should just pack it all up and call it a day... We only ever seem to be making up the numbers and are merely just here to assist the nrl with their membership/ratings
Yesterday on FTA Freddy and the female co commentator were in the stands promoting out new members initiative with the scarves.... A one third full main stand, looked embarrassing... I've stopped going to games... I'm pretty much over it

hate to agree and been feeling this way since last year.

I hope the NRL cuts to 12 teams and puts us out of misery. The organisation and the team is a failure. Unfortunately, they have got a loyal supporter base like us who keep forking out money.

I haven;t gone to a game now for almost 2 years. Haven't had a membership for 4 years now.

We as fans love discussing tactics, player performance, recruitment etc but it's kinda useless now. I honestly don't blame the players or the coaches. They are trying hard and many are improving but the other teams are so far ahead of us that we will never be able to catch up.

It doesn’t help that the governance of the game has systematically enabled an ever increasing gap to develop between the haves and the have nots of the NRL with Wests Tigers clearly on the side of the have nots. Not saying we haven’t shot ourselves in the foot for pretty much the whole of our existence, just pointing out that the inequality of the comp hasn’t helped our cause in trying to move up the ladder either.

Will have to agree to disagree on that one. I think all clubs are dealt the same cards and it's up to the organisation to make the most of it. And honestly, it happens. There are 16 teams vying for 8 spots and it happens. 3/22? is a bad number and I don't think I put any of the blame on the NRL personally.

However, I still do feel that a draft system with the last team picking first could have helped more but that's for another thread.

I don’t mind it the key is junior development and pathways. Players that come through the ranks and want to stay. The mercenaries will leave once they prove themselves like Aloai, Matterson etc. Everyone is a stop gap until we develop and keep our own. I have little faith we can do it but it has to be done.

Hearing BJ will be named at Center today...

Ready for meltdown, if he's named the only possible reason is Madge is scared of him

I really don't get this notion of the coach being scared to drop someone, he is not. What is he scared of exactly ? is it's the media backlash? is it that BJ is going to chuck a tantrum?

Have you seen BJ, he has the crazy eyes.

It was just a comment in jest no seriousness behind it, but i do think Madge will be more tentative after the media backlash last year.

Could lose a few pounds but Boris Johnson may be the answer.

Was beginning to think they were the same person.

I would certainly hope you are right.

As far as I am concerned that one is a no brainer.

The last time I saw a player get beaten and casually jog back after the ball carrier, was Packer. He didn't see another first grade game for some time. I expect the same.

You could go through the whole side they all made mistakes if we don’t beat the knights who I reckon are ordinary that’s when big changes should be made

It's not a case of "if" we don't beat them...we won't get within 20 points of the Knights - they'll towel us up through the ruck like they did both times last season.

Sadly you’re a fair chance of being correct. If we can’t get within 20 of a fringe top eight side, surely major changes are inevitable. CEO, coach or halfback ?

Problem starts with the halfback - he's been a constant for 7-8 years now. Yes, he's improved his defence a lot. Kicking game? Nope...Organisational game? Hell no. Add that up and what do you get? No finals...

I know there is a Brooks thread but just in reply to your comment about him. I don't understand what has gone wrong with his short kicking game. His long kicks have always been poor but he used to have one of the best short kicking games in the NRL. His defence has improved out of sight.

BJ has a very, very bad temper. I remember what he did to the Penrith fullback last year. He doesn't seem to worry about suspensions either.
