Even his own VP didnt like him 8 years ago, yet has campaigned for him relentlessly this time around. Even Trump himself came from the left. Ukraine is potentially a proxy for Australia. If Russia stomps all over Ukraine, there is no telling if they stop there. This brings potentially broad conflict back to Europe and only a fool would need to be reminded how catastrophic European conflicts have been in the recent past. They let Putin have his Georgia pie, take Chechnya, Donbas and Crimea, and he didn't stop, so he cannot be trusted to stop in Ukraine either.

This further emboldens the other aggressors like China and N Korea.

Not any of this is in Australia's favour.

BRICS is a loose grouping of non-Western economies, they are not an alliance and most of their chat is about trying to reduce the dominance of the US dollar in world trade. I do not see why any Australian would be championing a rise of the BRICS group as a power base - almost none of them, perhaps bar India, give a single stuff about Australian rights and security. Australia has almost zero political or trade relationship with Brazil, Russia or South Africa and those nations have no interest in working in our favour - in fact if anything we are in trade competition with these nations.

Trump initiated the withdrawal of US Troops from Afghanistan and now the Taliban are 100% back in control?

You don't need a "big balls" President to contain aggressive countries. You need a working parliament, a capable military and strong foreign diplomacy. Biden has managed it and according to half the people he has dementia. You need a predictable and reliable government. The Biden administration has done so much work to re-establish their ties with Europe and Asia, for Australia's mutual security advantage. We are friends with basically everyone America is friends with.

Trump proposes to withdraw support and become more isolationist and I don't understand how anyone thinks that's in Australia's best interests. Trump is chaotic and unpredictable. That might catch some opponents off-guard but it also gives them valuable opportunities to press their desires.

For example if Trump does indeed cease support for Ukraine, does Russia come to the peace table and negotiate? No of course not, because now they have the upper hand. Trump will never commit US forces and Europe won't want to send their militaries to the Ukraine front either, so the material support will evaporate and the Russian manpower advantage will become more prominent. Russia will use this advantage and uncertainty to press and capture as much land as they can. Trump will have no other threats to impose upon Putin; he can hardly increase sanctions and the military support will have ended.
