We Have Gone Down The Wrong Path

Comparing the Dragons and the Tigers is like lemons and Oranges, who in our backline would crack a gig in theirs???and barring Woods and Tapau I can not think of to many forwards and that includes Farah.

Granted he has them really fired up and has injected a massive dose of enthusiasm into the joint and he has surprised me how he has turned the joint around, but his roster is a lot better than people like to think

The question you should ask is who from our team would go to the next level playing under their coach and their structure.

I think you'd find, Tedesco, Simona, Nofoaluma, Brooks, Sirro, Sue, Taupau, Woods, Farah, Ava, Lodge and co would all grow a leg in that envirnment.

I would be questioning the players themselves…... if this was the case...

'Mary' seems to definitely be a no-nonsense coach that works on a basis of intensity. Last season when his coaching style became clear, I thought it might wear a bit thin with the players after a while and stop getting the intended reaction, but to his credit he has really got the Saints firing on all cylinders.

Taylor seems more a tactician. I have heard a few wise heads say that he is one of the smartest going around when it comes to a football brain. He has always said that his grand plan would take a while to come to fruition and he is certainly testing our patience.

Given Mary has been in the role for a fair bit longer than Taylor, it's a big call to make direct comparisons. The Saints weren't an instant success under Mary either.

It is not like bloody Dora with three options to choose from and you can see the result. In this case, the path chose us anyhow, and I am content to have them leading us along it, even if they are having to direct us when only given half the map to use.

We have to remember that whilst a most of the attention is on Moses and Brooks, these two youngsters have come into a team that is also full of inexperienced players.

I can't recall any team that has been so stacked with inexperience.
Even the youngsters that won the 2005 grand final were much better balanced with both veterans and guys who had played 100-150 games.

Moses and Brooks were always, and will for the next couple of years, have inconsistent performances.
Its going to be so even more considering the inexperience around them.

Unfortunately this is the path the club is on and I personally find it hard to criticise that choice of direction considering the potential of 4 or 5 of these juniors. We had to sign them up and with the cap, we had to let some experience go. Its not ideal, but now this path has been chosen, I firmly believe the club has to stick to it and hopefully recruit a sprinkle of experienced players over the coming years to better balance the team.

Its not just Moses and Brooks that have been thrown in the deep end, its Teddy, Sirro, Simona, Nofa, Sue, Naqiama, Lovett, Lodge…. so on and so on.

It is going to be a long road and it seems to be all uphill atm, but hopefully its all downhill towards the end and we have squad that can compete with the best.

Just remember that Brooks and Moses haven't got that experience around them like most promising juniors do when they are introduced into first grade.

That's exactly the point that a lot of us have been making,
In any other club two ( particularly Moses) small players would not have been thrown to the Sharks as they have been, no help to hide them in defence , as its almost impossible two two defence liabilities at once.
To me it seems that the club had so much invested in these two that they'll just keep hoping that they'll come good, and won't ever admit they were wrong until it's too late.
I hope these kids can get better, but they haven't shown it yet

I'm looking forward to seeing Brooks v Elgey…i hope they try and out do each other, and Brooksy comes out on top! :supporter:

Hope so Mama.

Our squad is not as bad as you make out
….
And if i have to hear about the salary cap mess one more time i think ill vomit lol. Its like this magical get out of jail free for coaches who cant get their players to play to their full ability.

I'm not going to compare squads but I think our team isn't that bad. We lack speed out wide but its not a terrible squad.

JT has no excuses and no one should be falling for any excuse that he comes up with.

Really? I think it's a pretty bad squad, but without cash it's what you get. That's why last year was so good in reality until for no reason we had to have a review undertaken for God knows what reason. Look where that's got us so far - Great decision that one. It's scary to think that with a few injuries to "key players" things can get a whole lot worse.

I think our pack can match up to most packs in the comp. I think our backs if they are all fit are okay. The problem is with Nofo and Simona out we are lacking 2 of our 3 strike weapons.

I think ideally we would have some back-up for Nofo and Simona plus we should replace Richards with a speedster.

I think the coach can probably pick a good team but his game plans are terrible.

Getting rid of Potter and that review was a terrible decision.

I think all we can hope for is that JT moulds a good team together by seeing the type of players that we need and getting those players and that he also tries to get the most out of the players rather than giving them his stupid structures.

Thats the way out in my opinion. I cant see them sacking him so if they support him they need to support him in a search for players that will respond to his game plan.
