Hindsight is always 20/20
Yes, surprisingly, there were quite a few posters who thought the swap was a great idea. The same who thought Moma was not rated in our top 4 centres, justifying the strong desire for change, believing that any change has the opportunity of bringing some kind of overall improvement. For those, I guess the hindsight advantage is kicking in?
Moma didn’t want to go as I recall?
Sometimes the best best option is under our noses all along. Tamou for Eisenhuth, Mcintyre for Offa, Momorovski for Bj, the list goes on. It isnt working for us. The quicker this club starts giving our own a crack and is patient with them the better we will be. Everyone wanted Seyfarth gone this time last year but what do ya know - he is getting better each week and more importantly he wants to be here for the right reasons at half the price.
Offa is better than McIntyre, Tamou and the Huth are a push, Momo would have been better than BJ (in hindsight) but IMO no better than Talau/Kepaoa and Laurie isa massive benefit. Not a strong argument.
I think it is a strong argument. How much more did that cost us in the process. Last time i checked we are going backwards on the ladder and we would have to be on the first or second line of betting for the wooden spoon next year. Im not disputing Laurie isnt a good pick up (and price)- he has been good for us, its the way we go about it that is the problem. Out of curiosity, how much more is Offa on than what Mcintyre was. How much more would have Tamou cost us than Eisenhuth. All these swaps are costing us more for no return in my opinion.
Dont get me wrong, Momo would be first centre picked for us at the moment, but a team with Momo at 4 and Mbye at 1 is not stronger than our current team and I'd suggest that a team with a late season Talau and a fit Kepaoa in the centres with Laurie at 1 is much stronger.
Who says Mbye had to play fullback. Douhie played there the year before and whilst not great went ok. Oh but hang on ,we played him in the centres too because we didnt have a decent one. So how much has all this cost again?
Yeah you are right, we would have had AD at 1 and Mbye at 6. You realise you are strengthening the case to get rid of Momo to get Laurie here.
You have convinced me, thank god we got rid of Momo.
Again who said mbye had to play at 6. If he is the best in that position at the time thats where he plays or you promote from within. You still havent answered my original question though.
Im not sure what your original question is, but if your question is how much has this cost us, my answer is nothing, we have come out of it stronger.
No question that Momo would be first centre picked right now but that brings the opportunity of cost of not having Laurie and Daine has made how team so much stronger than without him. Each of your extrapolations of moving AD or Mbye or who ever around to cover if he wasnt here proves it IMO.
Seems a strange hill to die on, there is no combination with Momo in and Laurie out that makes us noticeably stronger. Seems more to be seeking another opportunity to pile onto Tigers management which seems the new pastime of many here.
Daine has filled a position for us hopefully long term and has been a great pick up - not disputing that. I love what he brings to the team. The point i am trying to make is we have lost our best defensive centre who was on minimum wage and we have now leaked 676 points this year. Mostly through our edges. Are we not now crying out for centres. We have strengthened a position sure but we have now weakened our front line of defense which is our weakest link.
As for my question , it was on the monetary value of all our swapping of players. Surely Tamou is on more than what Eisenhuth was. Same for Offa vs Mcintyre etc. Are we really getting anywhere. The ladder would suggest no.
Actually your original question regarding Tamou/Huth etc had nothing to do with money. Tamou isnt on big money and even though he has been disappointing, Tamou at worst has been as good as Huth. Offa is streets ahead of McIntyre.
By the way your we lost this guy to get this guy has a few holes in it. We lost McIntyre to get Tuki and I think over time this will be a great win.
Yes Momo would have been better than what we have in the centres now, but no, IMO the team is MUCH stronger with Momo gone and Laurie here.
FWIW I think in the ONE (incomplete) game that Kepaoa played at centre he looked the best option.
No my original question was about the monetary value. Maybe you took it the wrong way. Price them up and get back to me.
