@Cultured Bogan said:**The game will truly flourish when they finally switch to the winter months** and can draw current huge names from Europe to play on loan for good dollars.
Imagine being able to see Ronaldo, Robben and Van Persie, players all in their prime playing in our A-League colours earning some cash while on a working holiday.
That's no disrespect to Heskey, Del Piero or Yorke either, but to draw current worldwide stars would be amazing.

Just shows how bad Newcastle were last week.
@Peaches said:It's just way over the top. When some of the middle-aged, elderly supporters and kids start questioning why they're there, then you really have to wonder. These people wouldn't put themselves into trouble. They too feel victimized.
I don't like the filming because I know they're profiling and making dossiers of us all. It's deadset ridiculous and I wouldn't have believed it until a club liaison notified me of seeing it.
I have only felt in danger at sporting games when a policeman came into the RBB with his hand on his gun holster. That's just overkill to say the least and how paranoid the authorities are. They aren't all like that though. There are a couple of officers who are Wanderers fans and are at all home games. They know what's going on and actually spend most the time watching the game with us. Haha
For me, it's no different then going to a Tigers game. For them, it's like a whole different kettle of fish, like its they're expecting a riot.

Are the police to a degree trying to protect your own fans from this small minority as well as the opposition fans

After the actions of the police at todays game I've done a 180 on the issue. Filming during a game, whilst drastic can help catch out the idiots. But going to the pub before the game, when absolutely nothing is happening and filming people there, is ridiculous. Then when they get boo'd out of the building, they go outside and stick the camera over the fence. I wonder how much effort they put into stopping crime elsewhere.

I don't know what the police are trying to do.
I know of the group who work with the police. They are called Hatomato and they work mainly in antiterrorist activities. They have a contract with the FFA and they are trying to meet targets to get bigger contracts. They too film us wearing plain clothes and try to provoke us. Often a Hatomato employee walks down on the fence line with a backpack that has a pole going up and cameras in every direction.
Here's more of what happened Sunday.
A family were sitting in a corner suite at the Roxy pub in Penrith just soaking up the atmosphere content and happy as the RBB was starting to sing. They were two parents and two young kids. An officer walked in front of them with a camcorder and from left to right and back to left recorded them then walked on to the next group. What on earth could warrant a young family to be recorded? These are kids in primary school for God's sake. It's a disgrace that this such in your face recording is happening at a football match. We aren't criminals but are definately being treated as so. If someone breaks the law, I'll back the police 100%. But in that instance like the rest I've seen, there is only one group breaking the law, and it certainly wasn't the young family sitting in a pub.

Sounding a bit paranoid imo

so was it at the pub or the game....your conflicting story does you no favours.

The cops wouldn't be getting so involved in filming, monitoring crowds etc if there wasn't a legitimate reason or security issue. Blame the moronic section of your own fans Peaches, not the police. As usual it only takes a couple of knobheads to ruin it for everyone. Maybe the WSW fans that have nothing to hide should be doing more to help police to eradicate these idiots. Win/win for everybody.
@Peaches said:Here's another story from yesterday. It was confirmed by a couple of others who couldn't believe what they heard.
A woman turned up at the Roxy with her child. Her husband was already inside with the other kids. When she went to enter an officer said "you don't want to go in there, the ferals are in there". She replied "my husband and children are inside." The officer said back "you must be a bad mother".
Like wtf?

]I'm not saying that isn't right , but if someone said that to my missus she would of had his badge number and the witnesses making statements before this copper next words left his mouth
Peaches if you know this person , that what you should advise them to do

It was put up on our forum. That was suggested torte lady and others if it were to happen again.
And like your partner, if I have a run in with one of these power-tripping officers, I'll be asking for a badge number and name. It's the only way things get done.
Some officers are fine, they seem to be the regulars and we see them during most the season. However they bring in officers from other commands who do not know the situation which is different from pretty much every other sport I've been too. I'm not saying the passion is more, but it's definately different. And that passion is taken in the wrong way and the situation exacerbates.
Both police and Wanderers fans need to address the situation differently. The us against them mentality is coming from both sides.
