Wests Tigers Coaches

Cleary ran for the exit as soon as the opportunity arose, just like the players we have lost to stronger clubs. Not sure that signifies a good fit. It could be easily assumed that he got out because he could see the writing on the wall.

Yeh cleary favoured overdone players with the same player manager too much.

Karma is a B*TCH. Hate forever.

I know I am going to be laughed at here but here goes

If there are no suitable coaches available why not go outside the game to secure a coach

There is a former Kangaroo and All Black player who is doing reasonably well as a coach

The club already has backs coaches, forward coaches, skills coaches etc - but what we need is a good man manager with football background

What about Brad Thorn

Now stop laughing, he has played league and Union at the top level and from what I'm told is very well respected in Union coaching ranks and is a good man manger

Brad Thorn

Surely a better option than some of the coaches being touted on this forum

I like ti think outside the square
I think that's a great idea. 👍

I will be interested to watch how Garner's career develops at Penrith. Many lamented him on this forum, I thought he hasn't reached his potential.
Noble point Pawsy.

He’s been far from our worst and I’m a bit sorry he’s bought into smug and the vile adolescent Penrith culture.

I honestly wish him the best. Just avoid socialising with team mates over there except Edwards. He’s a champion bloke.

Strong push to make it happen...Webster not interested, taking up the Warriors gig
Apart from pushing sheens this is the shortlist of candidates from the article..

Andrew Webster, was crossed off a shortlist that includes Josh Hannay, Kristian Woolf, Dean Young, Shane Flanagan and John Morris.
The Wests Tigers have had their first 4 choices decline the offer. They are now in a holding pattern considering whether to pursue a left of field option or ask Sheens.
Who were the four mate , apart from Ciraldo ?

You know what? If Maguire had not been the tigers coach and was available I reckon a lot of us would think he is exactly the type of coach the club needs.

Throughout the whole process, I maintained he was the man for the job and willed the club to stick with him. I was hoping like hell that he'd get the chance to coach the team with Api & Papi (that sounds so cool 🤣) and the kids he's brought up and start to get some reward for all the pain and hard work he put in to establish a squad that would become winners.

Under extremely trying circumstances.

Sacking him mid season was the worst thing the club could have done.

As many have said here, the club now not only has a reputation for ineptitude, but for being the NRLs biggest coaching career killer.

If I were to use my job analogically, I would be managing a group of people where the lead was one of those people you think "how the hell did they get this (incredibly high paying) job?!", two of my best workers simply didn't care because they had other jobs lined up, trainees are busting their butts but just not experienced enough to get things done on time and the rest are just not up to standard!

And because we miss deadlines and there are mistakes the buck stops with me. Even though I did everything I possibly could to help my team out and say we need more experienced people, I get sacked.

This whole situation reminds me of years ago when the mining industry (WA) had a huge downturn; The company I worked for simply looked at the numbers, let me and the other senior go and kept two juniors. You know what happened? They couldn't get anything done and the company is now dust in the wind.

Is that even a saying? I think it's an old song... 🤣

Anyway, it is what it is and I'm tigers for life. Through thin and thinner...

I

was making a point that there are many other factors at play that lead to success. The main one being a competitive roster.

How would I do it? I think the club needs a complete restructure top down with new powerbrokers. The head coach is irrelevant at this time.

Goodness. this state of affairs cannot go on!

Mate I totally agree with your opening statement, I would want Madge to.

Wow,thanks for the update Cloudy. I am not surprised in the slightest and my predictions are coming true. Do you know whom the other 3 choices were behind CC.

Morris, Woolfe & Payten ?

Ryles maybe instead of Payten.
It's getting bad.

Didn't Maguire have a couple of his cronies filling the assistant roles for a period of time? Non threatening types to said coach's career? If anything, the current situation is indicative of poor succession planning knowing the last thing Maguire wanted was a couple of highly capable assistants who could replace him in a seamless transition to the NRL coaching position.
