Wests Tigers' cubs must grow up

Is anyone actually suggesting we should have re-signed Anasta for another year???!

He served his purpose (albeit just) over the past 2 years. He would have said the right things at the right times. On the field he crippled us.

Our halves needed this experience last year, and got it. Taylor and Kimmorley can be the experienced halves to guide them now as both need to play 80 mins every week.

Regardless of the on field quality of our current experienced players, they are all known as very strong trainers who will set very good role models for the younger players.

Blair and Thompson were hardly known as big talkers within the group. They didn't lead with their voices, nor their performances, so where does this indispensable leadership shine through?

I'm certainly not against having experienced players, but they need to be contributing and passing on their knowledge to younger players.

Would we really want 'experienced players' like Wing or Keating ahead of Brooks or Moses? Hell no. Daniela or Lote in the backs? Nope. Rose, Kennedy, Fa'aaso in the forwards? No thanks.

If we got Ryan Hoffman or Corey Parker that would have been awesome but obviously was never going to happen.

The experienced players we lost weren't leaders, they were simply older than many of our other players.

Its funny BB that the younger players disagree with you about leadership, all their comments say the complete opposite

Brooks with Anasta , Woods with Blair And look at where they are now ??

If anyone would know better , its the young players

Blair can't be blamed when he is a particular style of player and Sheens brought him to do something different than what his strength is

And we didn't really have a choice with Anasta either , we needed an experienced on field half who would help Brooks make good on field calls , playing high percentage plays ,relax when things aren't going your way and learning what an on field general needs to do

Have they done a good job ?? , only the future will tell

Did we want them resigned in 2015 ??

Anasta no , Blair probably yes we need strength , experience and consistency in the back row in 2015

JT has some other ideas , we will see how it all pans out

2013/14 Aaron Woods Played 37 Won 15 lost 22…40%

2013/14 Keith Galloway Played 28 Won 11 Lost 17...39%

2013/14 Chris Lawrence Played 34 Won 13 Lost 21...38%

2013/14 Robbie Farah Played 36 Won 13 Lost 23...36%

Next in line is Adam Blair Played 48 Won 17 Lost 31...35%

Dunno what that proves Happy ...but you asked 😕

Edit Taupau has a higher winning % but he only played 2014...Played 24 won 10 lost 14...41%

Obviously the more of the players on the field with highest win percentages improves our chances of winning as a whole

Thought Teddy's name might come up in the Top 4

Teddy sits at 32%…

Oh I just checked again and Brooksy has a 50% win ratio though that may be inflated from his !00% in 2013...

So there you go one of our Least 'experienced' players has the highest winning % at the Club....go figure

Don't think those stats really tell us anything.
Too many other variables not accounted for.

For 2013/4 Liam was 37% ..10 from 27 but that was highly inflated cause he only played 6 games in 2014 winning 4…

His Overall career is very good 55%....172G 90W 82L

Balmain Boy–---Blair by all accounts was a great mentor for all the Polynesian boys. Their was a big story last year on what a great mentor he was to all the islander boys. Could have been a piece of fluff in a slow news day but I get the feeling he will be missed

The romantic nostalgic notion of the local junior over the experienced first grader from other clubs is making many think with thier hearts rather than their heads, usual suspects ….no idea really.
Juniors are our only asset, so some people put everything onto this

Plain and simple…..Anasta and Blair were poor for us.....whether they were locals, experienced or martians....they were awful, they were taking top cash.

Good bloody riddance!!

How much coin do you think Anasta was on Simon ??

You among many more are going to be shocked how bad a WT's season can actually get I reckon in 2015

When they don't have the experienced heads out there at the crucial times for the crucial plays

At least we will have the young guns all playing , that's the most important thing

Funny how many other teams aren't tripping over themselves to sign some of these " young guns " of ours like they do with other young guns at other clubs

Awful is absolutely relative to cost.

Blair was never good value. He was terrible value. Hence he was awful.

If I buy a $50 cup of coffee that comes out of some mammals butt and it just smells and tastes like normal coffee… then that's awful.

Anasta and Blair…...crucial plays....

HILARIOUS!!!!

Comments like these ….... HILARIOUS

Proof of your experience on the footy field

The players the fans usually least favour are funnily enough most favoured by players

Watch Bennett get the goods from Blair , much like Bellamy could

They know his strengths and weaknesses and will play to them

I'll take Bennett and Bellamy's word over a few internet jabronis any day of the week.

To think some believe they are better judges than them 2\. HILARIOUS!!!

At what point though does a mentee no longer require a mentor? There's a limit to how much one can learn from another individual.

Have those players served their mentoring roles well over previous seasons? Yes. Are they still required to hold the hands of the youth next year? We'll see, but quite possibly not.

The Islanders have been able to watch Blair on the training paddock and observe how an experienced player operates. Now time to stand on their own two feet and put it into action.

And how many plays did our 'experienced' players come up with when the stakes were high and the pressure was on last season? Robbie aside, I can't recall much at all that any of our senior players did to stand up and show a cool head. Anasta kicked one field goal, ok. Thompson scored a couple of tries throughout the season, ok. But really those players contributed nothing positive at all. They didn't take the cool option to give the team a respite. They didn't setup or score tries, nor come up with amazing try saving tackles.

If they couldn't/wouldn't why not try someone who might?

Lawrence is in the same boat as one of our primary culprits who led the team to defeat, but as he's still contracted we can only hope he improves.

The defense rests.

Bennett and Bellamy vs Simonthetiger, hmmmm

The defense rests

When has Anasta played under Bennett or Bellamy…

The case has re-opened.... 😱pen_mouth:
