Jolls well laid the only thing missing are

3. expand recruitment department
4. weekly radio promo done through c91.3 let south west know what is happening
Hi Bellend,

I have already covered those aspects in the earlier deep dives. But 100% all that is required as part of the system.

He gave an extensive update on two platforms in the last couple of months. His track record gives me confidence and I don’t expect to know what’s going on behind the scenes because that’s strategic information.

People need to stop reading Buzz Rothfields column.
Actions peak louder than words and in times of need leaders need to lead and do something or say something to help alleviate the disappointment and doubt of the long suffering fans.

He has provided updates, but what he hasn't laid out is the plan. It doesn't need to be the detail - just the route we're taking to get there. If he upped the comms side of his plan - I don't think there would be as much concern out there. Specifically why I thought is was the right time to look at this issue.

He spoke. It’s just some people don’t trust his words, I’m not one of them.

Did anyone see Bennetts comments about South’s ( after 5 losses in a row), he said they have no belief in themselves, despite being competitive, and that’s his challenge to try reverse that into some confidence.
Take note Benji coz the same applies to us. As a devotee of Bennett you should be doing the same thing, building up each players confidence so whilst competitive, they actually believe from kick off that they can win.

Another great deep dive Jolls. A couple of things
1. I don't recall Gus and Ciraldo sharing details of their plan when they punted the whole team over 2 years.
2. I also wonder what is going on from a financial perspective and whether this is influencing the actions. More specifically are HBG holding back funding because of the way they were treated by the fans over the last 12 months. It would be petty, however on past performance I wouldn't put it past them.

I don't think it is detail that we need, simply better communication. Members First is the mantra but no communication despite the TDS case being played out in the media. A simple acknowledgement and short statement is all that was required as opposed to Benji looking like a fool in the media saying I don't know.

I think the finances are holding us back from getting the support Benji requires. A mentor as GM of footy or Director of Coaching.

Further to my earlier text about Bennetts comments (#226) I just saw an interview with Kristian Woolf/Dolphins about how the team have developed a belief and confidence in themselves which is being reflected in their results.
Not sure how you make it happen but it seems to be a magic solution for teams stuck in mediocrity.
Over to you Benji and our coaching staff !

The turning point is when you start to win a couple fo those tight games that you have been losing. String a couple of those together and all of a sudden you are a winning team. We have a hard run home so I'm not expecting us to go on a run, but we can build some confidence in our kids by pushing the opposition - maybe we can jag one with a good bounce of the ball.

This week will really be about how our senior players stand up. I expect we will see Naden and Staines back in, potentially Royce back on the pine. So we have a few senior players showcasing their worth in potentially the last opportunity in this contract year (except for AD). Is this the week?

Yeah i did and it was very interesting.... you dont often get much from wayne but this was quite insightful

I see great potential in Campbo but like a lot of things at the club, it’s about ditching the “we’re just paupers” attitude. I see and hear it everywhere. Richo came in and 5 mins later had secured $50 million in funding for LO. He clearly knows you have got to aim high if you want to be up there with the best. He challenged government to spend up on Campbo too and whether or not it comes off, at least he’s having a crack.

In my lifetime I’d love to see a successful club playing ten games a year out in the South West. Campbo now is underwhelming and our results there are awful, but a successful side in a modern facility would be a different story.

We are no doubt a sleeping giant with a lot of people with agendas in the game who get significant joy out of our failure. Some of the richer clubs probably realise they will need our juniors when their coffers start to dry up. I really think Campbelltown is a big part of the solution and ultimately sticking it up them.

Just my two cents.
The 'fibro's' tag didn't hurt Wests Magpies back in the good old days.

Roy Masters gave them a psychological leg up when they had to go out and play the silvertails and it definitely worked.

There are probably quite a few fans in Campbelltown and surrounding areas today that would consider themselves to be the equivalent of the fibros/battlers of yesterday, whereas the Balmain area is the opposite, it's now pretty heavily gentrified so I've been told.

So, promoting WT as a battling club [we're going to beat all you rich clubs to a pulp] in the Cambo area could be a way to go, as long as we get the rough and tumble players.

Just my two cents worth as well.

G'day Jolls....Richo came out quite strongly in saying he would take our club away from Campbelltown if $50 million to upgrade CSS wasn't forthcoming by 30 June.
Well, here it is on the stroke of midnight and I as a member have heard nothing from him.

Also, next to nothing has been said on here or direct to members, about the new HBG Board member that joined just recently.

Are you able to give us the latest in regard to both of the above matters.

Deadline was extended to end of July i believe.

@BZN

This is what I know/understand based on open source research. I have provided references where appropriate so you can chase it up.

CSS

Richo's demand for a $50 million upgrade to Campbelltown Sports Stadium has not been met as of today. The club had initially set a June 30 deadline for securing funding but has extended it to the end of July as outlined by @TheClaws . However, they did request that Campbelltown City Council demonstrate its financial commitment by Monday, June 30. Source: Australian Leisure Management

Campbelltown City Council has acknowledged its inability to fund the upgrades independently and is seeking significant support from state or federal governments. An extraordinary council meeting was held on Friday, 27 June to consider options for the stadium. Council outlined that planning is underway for a $40.3 million Sport and Health Centre of Excellence within the Leumeah Precinct. In partnership with Western Sydney University and other stakeholders. Council has previously resolved to contribute up to $25 million to this project, with additional funding from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, Commonwealth Community Development Grants, and Western Sydney University. Source: Campbelltown Council Business Papers 27 June

I could find no evidence of additional commitment to the staduim as a result of the EGM; however, as the deadline has been extended this is not unexpected. Note: Richo's letter to Campbelltown Council is included in the papers if you are interested.

The papers outline $338 million in total economic benefit to the region should redevelopment occur based on 9 NRL games with 24 000 attendees. NRLW and Macarthur A League figures would increase the economic benefit.

The proposed development of CSS is:
  • Stage 1 – $50 million• Increase capacity to approx. 21,000• Extend and fit out the Western Grandstand (+4,000 undercover seats)• Add 500 corporate seats• Construct new changerooms (male and female)• Install new food and beverage concessions
  • Stage 2 – $50 million• Fit out the Eastern Grandstand (+3,000 undercover seats)• Add 300 corporate hospitality seats• Install new concessions on the Eastern side• Upgrade LED stadium lighting and field signage• Improve patron amenities across both sides
As far as I can ascertain Campbelltown City Council has been actively seeking funding and has engaged with local Members of Parliament and government bodies to push for the necessary investment . However, as of now, no funding has been secured, and the future of the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium remains uncertain.

Latest HBG Board Appointment

Leo Epifania has been rumoured (facebook/Wests Tigers Life) to be appointed to the Wests Tigers Board. There is conflicting information on his postion on the Wests Tigers Board. It is rumoured that he will be replacing Dennis Burgess as the (HBG) nominee; however, also stated that he is the Wests Magpies nominee so could replace Stephen Montgomery. As far as I can ascertain this has not been officially announced by Wests Tigers, Wests MAgpies or HBG so until the appointment is ratified I don't expect an announcement from any of the entities and nor is it likely to hit the wider media.

Leo Epifania played for Wests 1980s and later serving as the General Manager of Football Operations. Epifania also coached internationally with the Italian national team.

Regardless fo the appointment and into what position there will be no change in the balance of power within the board. Leo's playing, coaching and sports admin background may be of benefit when making key decisions.

Jolls spoke with a mate whose wife works in CC stated they have pushed the state and federal members on the money side as the A-league wants the upgrade to happen as well and i believe there is another group that wants to play out there if the ground is upgraded and the Centre of excellence happens. Fingers crossed.

There appears to be support from and and bunch of work done by Campbelltown Council. If the figures are right a new stadium will bring in around $400M over 15 years whereas doing nothing there is a potential to lose around $30M over the same period if we were to leave. So an investment of $100M would return $27M to the region annually so the payback period (in regional terms) is around 4 years, one political term!

The CoE planning has already commenced with $40.3 million allocated. Campbelltown Council is contributing up to $25 million, with additional funding from the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, Commonwealth Community Development Grants, and Western Sydney University. It doesn't appear that Wests Tigers are tipping in anything.

A new stadium? Is there a chance they could completely reform it? We’ve seen plans for Leichhardt understandably its further along has there been any drafted even preliminary for CS?
