Wests Tigers players that never fulfiled potential

Bronson Harrisson would have to be in the side.

Showed glimpses but for reasons mostly beyond his control he never went as well as he should

I remember he had a blinder against the Bulldogs in 2005 when the Tigers came back from 18-0 to beat them. Funnily enough he was used wide of the ruck that day.

Also, who was that young winger that played his debut against Penrith scored a try and tackled a rampaging Galavaou and held him up over the line…

Was it Luke Dyer???? It was 2006 I think???? God, could've been 2004 for all I remember. He only played 2 first grade games, his second game was okay, got injured and retired from league later that year.

What was his name and what happened to him?

Luke Duffy is the bloke I think 2004…...no Idea what happened to him.....

Nick Youngquest!!

Sheesh!! Some would have said Nick was a model player!

Yeah the word on the street is he asked Tim Sheens if he could miss a training session to do some modelling work. I don't think Tim liked that and that was the end of Nick's chance for fullgrade spot at Wests Tigers.

If i remember correctly Luke has some nasty injuries as a youngster and it was quite an achievement for him to reach first grade. Once he achieved that, he decided it was too hard trying to nurse his injuries through his career and retired. I could be wrong but thats how i remember it.

I recall that Mark did play again after his injury although he was never the same player. I could be wrong on this point though.

I think he played a couple of games, but was no where near what he was prior to the injury.

Trent Clayton, he had a good debut, scored a try, showed some speed, then took the money at the rorters and was never seen again. And at the moment, ill say Liam Fulton.

Im sure we got Clayton from Easts and then he went to penrith from us

17.

I added Tyrone Smith and Senter,Smith could never put it together consistently, could be white hot some days though. Senter just couldnt pass offf the ground and was always more interested in milking a penalty than playing the game. I enjoyed watching him when he was with Balmain( I followed wests) but was sick of him when I started seeing him every week.

Player sues for lost career

By Lee Glendinning
June 25 2003

A former Balmain Tigers rugby league player is suing a plumbing company after losing two toes in a workplace accident, which he says prematurely ended his first-grade career.

Mark Stimson, 31, of Temora, north of Wagga Wagga, was buried up to his thighs in rubble after a trench he was working in gave way. A slab of concrete also landed on his left foot at the Darling Harbour work site on August 25, 1998.

Yesterday he gave evidence in a Supreme Court hearing that his employer, J. R & L Chalk, had breached its duty of care in failing to recognise a foreseeable risk of injury at the site.

Mr Stimson had worked as a plumber since he left school, keeping up the trade while playing first grade in Sydney for Balmain from 1996 to 2000.

After the accident he returned to first-grade rugby league

but he quit in May 2000 when he realised he was on a "downhill slide".

Mr Stimson said he wanted to claim a loss of income for the six years he believed he had left in his professional career had he not been injured.

id say shannon gallant, if he stayed with us in fg he would of only gotten better.

Believe me , Shannon DEARLY wanted to stay with the Tigers. ( This came straight from his Dad , Adrian ) For some reason , the deal he was offered was totaly pitiful, ( < 60k) and well below par compared to his efforts on the field. He has a young family , and didn't want to uproot them. However, he HAD to except the NQ offer, not only for the real prospect of a regular start in the firsts, but to earn enough to look after that young family. The WT management rathered spend a much larger sum recruiting a dual international , in his career twilight on the rebound from union than looking after its talented juniors. They could even have offered him what they are paying Fitzy…and he may have stayed!! :brick:

Brett Hodgson!!!
He was peaking just as he left…...LOL.

I am still trying to get over the fact that "The Hodge" is no longer with us.
A legend......nothing more can be added to that.
