Wests Tigers Sack Jason Taylor - OFFICIAL..

Last comment, "Big 4" might be either way on this one, may not have been entirely on-board with Taylor's coaching ability, but there is a very high chance a new bloke could drop the non-performers. I'd be very worried if I was anyone except Tedesco and Woods and Suli.

A vast majority feel sending Farah off was a great move.
I doubt JT regrets it for a single second.

Well he should because I have no doubt that his obsession with RF was responsible for some of the poorest decisions he has made and effectively, slowly but surely has contributed to his demise. All he had to do was coach the squad that he was given, instead he divided it , created drama, and weakened it. There was never any evidence to support that RF was not towing the line when it all blew up, he instigated the problem and we all suffered for it. Two wasted years treading water.
But we got rid of Farah and it was worth it because …things have really changed

The club pandered to Robbie. He was removed by Taylor to stem his influence, that's a fact.
Now we have the club turning the tables back to pandering to these kids.
The club is petrified to lose them, the money invested in them would be wasted.
JT will be sacrificed and we will be back to the norm.

I really pray for the spoon this year. That's how we get out of this mess.

Yeah great thinking Match ball.

All that will do is loose key players, loose sponsors won't be able to secure a coach or players. Another year of pain for the supporters.

You have to be kidding!!

No. Not kidding.
Spoon is what we deserve. It's coming to concord this year.
Only player I want retained in Tedesco. He is the only star we have.
Woods is very overrated. One dimensional in attack. No offload whatsoever.
The halves can't defend. They arent worth 600k for the pair.
Sacking Taylor was giving in to the big 4 and their manager. We are doomed now. Peyton will probably be our next head coach.
This has been a orchestrated take down.
Football whisperer blowhard has a lot to do with it also.

If nothing else, when (not if) he goes, we can get into some decent threads without the same guys saying he is a maggot, insipid, i told you so, i knew he was crap and no one else did sso im a legend, blah blah blah.

And if we go better, thats great!

And without the same people defending his every move then turning on him once they realised everything they said in relation to him over the past couple of years is wrong.

It's not that black and white and you know it.

Some people couldn't stand JT at all, never did.
Some people were open-minded to see how he went, turned on him quickly enough when the results didn't come quickly.
Some people were open-minded to see how he went, thought he should get near-enough to his full tenure to be able to produce the results that previous coaches had failed to achieve.
Some people liked JT as a coach and were optimistic he could do it.

And most people were a thousand shades of in-between of those scenarios.

So I don't think anyone truly defended JT's every move, he did good things and bad things. The results didn't come and it's come faster than most people predicted this year.

Don't go turning on the people who stuck up for the role of the head coach, same as those who stuck up for Potter in principle, even if Potter didn't get the results either.

The person who turns WT around, if ever, will be a genius because it's claimed 5 coaches to date and NONE of them have come back to coaching at NRL level.

No one defended JTs every move…..its called giving a bloeka go.
exxageration big time

Good post Jirskyr

I'm not a Taylor fan but it pisses me off that the players routinely move coaches on cause they feel like it

Geeez I'm surprised they aren't blaming Farah for this.

I agree I think Cleary might be to soft and does not have a great coaching record 49% win ratio. But hey that's better than Taylor 44%. We need a mongrel coach who is going make these guys bleed for the club. Toovey was a tough nut 58% win rate too, maybe he is the answer and have Skando or Payten as his assistant as they may bring back a bit of pride in the club which is so sorely lacking.

Give some of them time LM, some will !!
Doesn't matter.
if this is accurate, it's a very good day. Two years to late butbetter than another year of garbage Coaching.

Who cares really, we got the spoon this year, Webster knows only gotta coach 21 games this year, it won't matter how much we get flogged by, it's all about keeping tedesco and Woods now and finding a coach for next year, this yeah is over and done with. no hope of finals footy just fight for that spoon.

Will this change anything in the long run?
Theres multiple issues around the club, do they think getting rid of one bloke will change everything?

\
\
This is correct…The club has massive issues and to start with is money...we simply dont have the money to implement and run a top notch football department that is going to attract the players needed to be a force....the current NRL squad is full on NRL impostors (and I include the big 4 in this)...but what marquee player would want to join the WT, whilst the joint is in a mess..?.Look at Newcastle, no matter how much money they throw at a player, most dont want to go near the joint...and we are no different.

At least JT tried something....but it hasn't worked..

Is it time to call the whole thing "mission impossible"?

Taylor was so far out of his depth, without a clue of what to do next. He's run out of excuses. He's sacked everyone but himself , and used them as scapegoats for his own shortcomings,
He can't Coach, Simple.

We still have the believers. GNR is organising an all night JT vigil.

Could not have said it better myself, he talked accountability, but never preached it, and he himself seemed immune to it, his luck ran out, way too late for my liking but at least it did run out.

i honestly don't think this is the answer or even A answer. Its a band-aid at best to quell the angry fans an sponsors. 4 coaches in 5 years tells you that there is something else happening at the club.

I'm no fan of Taylor but what type of organization fires a guy like this after two losses? knee jerk much? poor management. The fact they had so little faith in him makes the whole RF saga even sadder. If he was two losses from getting the arse, why not keep a club champion on board and see how it goes. Short sighted madness. If any of the big 4..god i hate that phrase…didnt like taylor then they should of been shown the door. Not because I want tayor to stay and teddy to go but as soon as we have players deciding on coaches...we as wests fan knows how that turns out.

To me this reeks of a spineless management team that is pandering to the masses. The masses can be certain players / fans or whoever. Wests were unstable last season...now its manning the lifeboats time.

two words, Brian Smith.
Like him or not, if you want a coach who will shake things up, and give the club a clean out, drop non performing players, then he is the man.

Are you kidding? He was the one that was the catalyst for our disastrous last few years. If you recall, he was brought in by our previous fearless leader when we were performing above expectations and from memory in the eight. From there Potter was sacked, Farah became a nightmare and now look where we are. :brick:

Big difference between defending him and defending the position of head coach.

Anyway, how many will we win on the trot now, starting this week. JT has gone, who was responsible for every issue we have ever had. He is gone now, cant possibly lose!!!!

Cant wait until this weeks team selection. Lets just see what changes.

Garbage lol total crap.

Disapointed it had to cone to this, but at the same time i applaud the club for taking swift action and not letting this drag out. We need to secure a coach for 2018 before we get to the playing roster, and it seems like we've given ourselves time to sign the right coach. I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor was told before the game yesterday his time was up. When Lockyer interviewed him he looked and sounded morose. Like he didn't want to be there. Dead man walking if you will. I'm sure this decison was in large part to make the 4 happy, so there no excuses now. Moses and Brooks, show us what you got big boys.

I'd be amazed if the Club hasn't already sounded out Cleary and maybe Toovey just in case what might, and unfortunately did eventually happen. Wouldn't surprise me either if a deal has already been done contingent on JT's demise. Hope the two lower grade coaches are next on the chopping block. Don't think I've seen a worse team all year than our terrible Intrust outfit. 3 games, 3 huge defeats!

Oh well at least i don't have to keep my promise anymore and wait till after six weeks before i said anything negative about JT.

The bench selection was atrocious, the bench rotation was atrocious and the team were not playing well.

Kyle Lovett should have never played FG again or at all

Our attack went to water and our defence well its the same old same old and that was one of his key goals. Fix the defence.

It will also put the players on notice, no more excuses, perform or your gone as well.

WT Statement Black
Wests Tigers have today announced the termination of the contract of Head Coach Jason Taylor, effective immediately.

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go said that this decision was not an easy one for the Club to make.

“On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers I’d like to thank Jason for his commitment and contribution to the Club during his time as Head Coach,” said Go. “Jason has overseen significant change within the Club over the past two seasons and we thank him for his efforts.

“Our position has always been to make sure that the Head Coach’s contract is tied to performance and that hasn’t changed,” she said. “We are committed to building a side that will be in a position to win NRL Premierships and believe that this decision is the correct one for the future of the Club.

“This is a challenging time for the Club and Jason and we ask that we are given time to work through this process with Jason,” said Go.

Current Wests Tigers Assistant Coach Andrew Webster will take on the role of Interim Head Coach.

Webster returned to Wests Tigers this year after spending two seasons as an Assistant Coach at the New Zealand Warriors.

Webster previously worked for Wests Tigers as an assistant coach.

ok then, thats a wrap.

collectively, is it time the club and the fans all move forward with an ounce of - i dare say - positivity ?
lets hope the last 3 years was the worst this joint will experience and hope that what comes might be a slow improvement but nonetheless one that is in the right direction.

I get no joy out of this - frustration yes. I have no doubt JT wanted to achieve but he seemed to lose sight of what he was employed to do . No winners out of this just two wasted years and more mess to mop up. It would be nice if this club could get something right this time.

Nobody will be on notice.
The players now have control. It's over.
Defensive issues will be there next week and the week after.
