Seems like simonthetiger knew something was afoot based on his comments last night in another thread.

Don't think I disliked Mayer, but I am always concerned about people who keep changing jobs every couple of years. Never looks good on a resume.

Everyone could see through his BS, our goals haven't been achieved from what he publicly stated. We were supposed to be a top 8 last year, top 4 this year and Premiership next year, which we are a fair way away from all that.

He didn't handle himself well when he publicly bagged our Campbelltown turn out last year in one of the games, you just don't do that IMO.

I'm trusting that this is for the better of our club

Mayer was there at the members event on Friday night, though he didnt address the members, only Go and Moss spoke….which I thought odd at the time

He was in very good spirits at the coaches night, I had a decent chat with him. Considering that there isn't the standard 'I've loved my time at the tigers' etc from him, in fact no quotes at all, I'd say something happened very suddenly and it isn't a resignation at all.

I neither liked or loathed him. Always seemed to cop the rough end of the stick though, I suppose that's what happens when you're brought in to do the job of a hatchet man.

Quite honestly worried about who will fill the void. Not many astute operators around at the minute and the ones that are around are already set up.

Maybe he didn't get rissoled, maybe he has another gig or the board caught wind of him talking and he got marched.

Can't see Parra being much better than Wests though. 4 CEO's in 6 years.

I wonder how many of us thought JT would be punted before Mayer…huge surprise,makes you think how long has this been brewing and what has he done to be"effective immediately"...unless there was a big offer from another club ?

I think we can fairly say that most people on this forum did not know Mayer personally, had limited knowledge of his day-to-day role and obligations, and can hardly judge from a professional standpoint how good he was at his job.

Not liking a bloke, or what he says, doesn't qualify.

When was the last time you heard a high profile position being sacked?…They only get sacked if they perform a corporate crime or similar....he was sacked no doubt....The club has not performed off the field this year....Membership numbers stagnant; Corporate sponsorship non existent and prospects for the future bleak(if you don't count the Pizza Restaurant that no ones has ever heard of).... Office staff unhappy; no decision of our future training facilities;...and on and on.... we need to step up our CEO and whole off field structure...last year they did the Football side of things, this year they need to up the ante from the CEO down....
