It astounds me that when a team is not performing competatively the first choice of reply is "the coach needs to go"the team is not performing for him...No the first choice of reply should be "have a look at the product (players) purchased at exorbitant prices"" and then see what value they offer for the price, after all they are professional NRL players in the big arena and should know how to play to structures and gameplans...if not they should find another career..
Funnily enough some much younger players learn to play the way the coach wants and seem to go onto better futures in the game...

Its not always the coaches fault sometimes he doesnt have much to work with...sound familiar...other coaches attempt to coach at this level but havent the complete ability to do so ...JT comes to mind..
Its a 2 way street, you either make it or you dont, its the results that impact players/coaches and therein lies the answer to players being dropped or coaches being sacked...

You said similar early on in Voldemort's tenure...

Coaches rarely sack themselves...'players get rid of coaches'...T Sheens

In relation to what players are paid most players have a rough idea what each are on yours was a good estimate of $400k just thought i would correct for all forum members not being a smart ass and add what Packer is being paid, shows how poorly we managed negotiations prior?
Think we both agree that having an additional $450k to spend on other players for next season will give us better quality, combine that with the penalties imposed for the Robbie Farah ambassador role penalty of $670k for 2019/2020 we should also have an additional $335k next year plus any players off contract not kept.

I didn't estimate any salaries, I'm not interested in that type of salary cap discussion. As I said, you might be McQueen himself but unless you reveal your sources, we can only take stranger at their word. I appreciate you don't want to reveal your sources.

What I'm really interested in is who is on the books now and who is coming, not what they are paid.

Madge seems really keen to watch packer get a run again. Says for the first time he’s seeing the ‘real russell’ as he’s not held back by injuries.

Hopefully russell doesn’t get too excited and get himself binned again. If he can play well it’s a massive boost for us considering Musgrove is out

Love hearing Madge speak about the team. You can't help but believe in the guy, even when he's talking up the corpse of Chris McQueen. If he can actually sort out our club then I think his next job will be with the Federal Government solving COVID.

He managed to get me excited about Packer being in the team he’s got a way with words ?

Nofa, Aloiai and Hodgson sent for Covid tests because they live in hot spot areas. Should be fine though

They won’t play if they don’t have their results back though.

I’m sure their results will be pushed forwards. My girlfriends test took less than 24 hours a few days ago

I don’t see why they would be. They aren’t any more important than anyone else.

You’re right, but they’ve been given advantages for other things regarding the virus so I’m sure V’landys will be pushing the government to get it done

They are done by a private company and paid for to be expedited..not at a pop up station..

Also essential workers in the general public get results within 24hrs..my daughter was tested at 10am on a Saturday and had the results at 11pm that night..

Yeah, health care workers get to skip the line at a lot of testing centres. Nepean Hospital has actually closed the testing clinic it had on site but employees of the hospital still get their testing done on site.

You are also correct about the NRL paying for its own testing and analysist as could you imagine the complaints if NRL players were clogging up the public testing?

In regards to testing and results turnaround, that can vary on the location and amount of testing being done at the time. Results do stretch put to up to 72 hours when there are lots of test being conducted, but as @geo stated the NRL pays for its own testing and processing of results.

What happens when a player tests positive?
The NRL says they have a plan, but haven't made it public what that plan is.

Cancel the game and give us the 2 points

Awesome!

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating sacking Madge in my criticism of his selection. I don't like sacking coaches. I just think this is the start of the team starting not to listen to him and follow the plans which is only going to lead to average play and a year or two from now we might be in a similar position. I like Madge, like his attitude, just think the tinkering with the halves is a bad move and suggests a lack of clarity on how he wants the team to play. People say he's holding players accountable but good teams don't stuff around with their halves and bad teams do. Melbourne was a bit of an exception last year in not settling but look at the what the good and bad teams are doing this year. I just think our best team has brooks and Marshall in the halves and stuffing around and not finding a way to make that work spells trouble.

Game is there for us to win.
Broncos side looks very ordinary.
So if we come away with a loss on Friday our season is done and dusted.

So just keep brooks underperforming?

The storm example is a contradiction.

Good teams don't stuff around with their halves because they are usually winning games regardless.
We aren't performing well and Brooks has been a major part of that. Glad to see him get a rocket up his bum, hopefully it has the desired effect and he plays with a bit of passion and fire.

cant believe this thread has mention of end of madge, for me we are light years ahead of the last few years. maybe not in W/L yet but general effort with a pretty average roster players been shown accountability.

Setting a performance based culture is gonna take more then 2 years, but if you want to end up like the roosters or storm need to take the first steps.

We've tried the old have a belter of a game then have 2 weeks off for the last 10 years hasn't worked. Inject a bit of class into the team and we should be winning more then we lose.

Damn. Was hoping Blore would get a run. Not really sure why he was named.

Blokes are named every game, every week that the coach has no intention of playing. Just filling up the numbers.
Was hoping he'd get a game, at least everybody knows what McQueen will bring: absolute nothingness.

Different when someone is yet to debut though I’d have thought
