The way it was reported on the National Nein news I thought it must have been a new incident, so what's the point of having him play the opening game of the season then standing him down?.

Nrl must of stepped in perhaps. Said club punishment not enough. Made him miss one nrl game.
The Wests Tigers have stood down front-rower Matthew Lodge for the side's NRL clash with St George Illawarra following his arrest over a nightclub incident.
Lodge was fined $10,000, $5000 of which was suspended, after he was arrested in Kings Cross for failing to leave a venue on January 11.
The 19-year-old was stood down for a week during the pre-season and not allowed to play in the Auckland Nines and the side's final trial against Parramatta.
Lodge played off the bench in the Tigers' round one win over Gold Coast but has been stood down for the club's match with the Dragons at Campbelltown Stadium on Monday night after he was found to be in breach of the club's behavioural guidelines.

he'll learn if it's harsh.
people go on about $10 grand not being much for a paul gallen or whatever. say he earns a million. its 1% of his income. which is like a $500 fine to someone on 50k. pretty bloody annoying. would make me think twice about doing it again.
