WESTS Tigers Team V Souths

Pretty much as expected - under the new NRL rules the actual run on squad doesn't have to be finalised until 24 hrs before kickoff. i think there are 3 or 4 players stillcarrying niggling injuries so this squad looks like it has been named to cover all options.
 
I see nothing has changed from last year. look good at training and be a favourite and you get picked. luckily we are playing a poor team.
Lets hope for a win

What do you expect, the coach is out of his depth, Rankin at 5, and probably at 9 sometime during the game, what a deadest master coach we have. :bash

Tbh I expect him to start on the wing - every media outlet has been reporting that they've been training as such. Throw in the lack of fanfare re: Suli making his ISP debut, and it's more than likely IMO.
I also suspect JLJ will come in for Edwards to give McIlwrick a spell.
 
So let me get this right there are 2 guys nobody wants in the team..

Have just logged on and seen the team and pretty disappointed to say the least. What the hell is Rankin doing there? Was awful in the 9s and trials and didn't even play on the wing in those games. Already I'm ready to crack it and round 1 hasn't even kicked off.
 
I love how no one has entertained the possibility that Rankin could be a smokescreen for Suli. Nope straight for the jugular. Footy's back baby!!

I can't believe anyone is surprised Rankin has been selected - Moses normally kicks goals - he has been in a moon boot for weeks he isn't going to kick goals. So at a minimum we need someone to kick goals and Rankin is the best goal kicker by far given Moses is out and Simona fecked up his career.

Also with Moses and Brooks having been injured then having back up in Rankin available makes sense as MCK can go into the backline

I would think once Moses foot is fixed enough to kick goals it may be reassessed.

As for the rest of the side MCK gives good backs and back row coverage, Edwards give good coverage at prop and also bench hooker but without wasting a whole spot on a bench hooker when you don't need too. Given the injuries we have been facing this is the right squad

There are more than 2, but we'd probably be pacified if those obvious 2 were replaced.
 
Who are the 2? Rankin obviously, and i'm guessing Edwards is the other? Ironic, the same people criticizing our defense are now calling for the head of arguably the clubs best defender.

It's been raised by a couple of people in this very thread.
 
It will be very interesting to see our defence when we don't have one player that's bet on his opposite number scoring first try. I know he is innocent until proven guilty but I wonder if it will make a difference.
