I think Laurie looked amazing today at Fullback and feel that role suits him much better than the 5/8th role. He is very elusive and looks dangerous every time he gets his hands on the ball, he chimes in so well on sweeping backline plays.

More importantly for mine, he got across for the kick on the last that may have gone dead anyway, but he had made the tackle near the sideline on the other side of the field and still got the other side of the goalposts to defuse it if necessary.

The true effort plays that showed the competitor that Tamou and Maguire alluded to him being. As I have written before, he showed enough in his run on debut in the final round of 2020 to show that he belongs in the top grade and hope that he can stay there for at least the next three seasons.

Mbye deserves his chance given we have a spot for both in Week 1.

Looks a nice hybrid of Bevan French and Ben Barba. Chuck in a bit of Moylan when in form. I keep waiting for him to cop a beating but he seems to be able to find the gaps and make yards.

I don't agree mate. We know what he can do there now - but give Mbye a chance before he is relegated to #14 in Round 2. Laurie in 6.

Laurie hasn't been here all pre-season - would send a terrible message to the team for him to walk into fb on talent rather than hard work.

Laurie is not a 6, he was much better this week than last week. He is much better injecting himself into the attack and not having to play as much to the structure.

I've supported Mbye being our fullback all offseason, today Laurie showed he is ready to make that position his.

Can't remember a Tigers trial game in the last few years where there were so many positives. Our new guys showed there potential and some of the old hands had a go.

Confidence is key. DL is coming off a great performance and on a high. MM is probably working hard to regain confidence in his body which keeps breaking down. I go with DL.

So far in the trial in my opinion Laurie has shown at this stage of his career that he is a fullback and not a 5/8th. As he gets more experience and size he could transition to a 5/8th but I don't think he is at that point yet.

He claimed the number 1 in my mind today.

Mbye deserves his chance given we have a spot for both in Week 1.

Laurie has to be in the 1 though

I don't agree mate. We know what he can do there now - but give Mbye a chance before he is relegated to #14 in Round 2.

Laurie hasn't been here all pre-season - would send a terrible message to the team.

I think the message should be the best player in the position gets picked in the position..call me crazy..

I've supported Mbye being our fullback all offseason, today Laurie showed he is ready to make that position his.

I agree mate. I think he'll be our number #1 by round 2. All I'm saying is that we have to be very careful here to not send the wrong message. There is an easy solution to give mbye a crack in Round 1.

For all we know, mybe has been killing it in #1 over the pre-season. In fact, I've heard some comments that it's exactly the case.

We're also assessing Laurie off a depleted Manly side. I mean, they still suck on the best of days, let alone with their marque players all out.

Laurie. Yes, he wasn't as good there. But still good.

I'd dare say it's exactly why Madge played him there in the first trial. Trying to get some game time for round 1

He is not ready to be an NRL half at this point, even last week he didn't really play a 5/8th role. I think you set him up to fail by playing him at 5/8th in round 1.
