Didn’t want to start a new thread but who do we think has the most to gain this Sunday?

For me it’s Tuki Simpkins. He could come out of the blue and jag a top 17 spot if he plays as well as he did last week. Huge opportunity I reckon.

Laurie and Madden as well. At least one of them will have a spot in round 1, could be a head to head battle for a position in the starting 13.

Yep, Laurie for me.

Feels like Madden will be 6 round 1 unless he has a shocker. There are no other options being trialed.

Laurie has the opportunity to win the fullback spot from Mbye. He might get it by default if Mbye is out for round 1 but if he has a big game he'd be hard to leave out even with Mbye.

I think there’s a chance Laurie for 1 and Mbye for 6 round 1.

Maybe but I think it would be unlikely given Mbye hasn't trained at 6 at all, and without a trial under his belt. I think it's more likely Mbye at 1 and Laurie at 6, but even that I think is unlikely.

In my opinion Madden needs a much improved game this weekend to get the 6.

Who do you think will take it off him if Mbye is injured round 1?

Yea true , but he would toned the game of his life to keep it . With AD and Mbye waiting in the wings

Tuki for sure, DL, anyone around that back row/lock position who plays strong, those spots and the bench are are up for grabs with Blore out. Need more from Jock, does he run the ball?

Well if Fitzgibbon has a blinder for the magpies he may still get a spot in the 30
But he would need to blow off the cobwebs and ready show us what he has got
I would like to see him break a few tackles and run in some long range tries

Is that asking to much

It's fair to say that there was no slick backline movements whatsoever last week, on the few occasions we did throw it wide, the pass either went to ground or was intercepted. Once the rust is removed, I think we've got the makings of a pretty decent NSW Cup backline. With the likes of Kei and Cooper in the centres, I daresay opportunities will present for Fitzgibbon - I don't think he'll have too many problems once he's put into clear air.

Why cant it be Sunday 5pm yet.???

Hanging to see the squad and how far Madge has brought them along.

Weren't there a few people talking up Josh Rizk as a star of the future? I remember people were debating against signing Mansour or James Roberts because they might block his path to first grade.

Why is he only on the bench in the flegg squad?

Rizk is an exciting player and will have impact off the bench when the opposition starts to tire. The coach knows what he is doing.

I’m sure as the season progresses he will find his way into the starting side. He is only 19 also.

Fair enough. I think some people have placed too much expectations on him in that case.

Sounds he’s one of many young players we have that have potential. Hope he makes it, but way too early to impact decisions whether or not to sign experienced first graders.

New
We can only hope Raiders and Roosters do some damage to each other in today’s trial, we play them both in the first two games:joy:

I know it's only a trial but Raiders are looking very good :flushed:

Will be a tough round 1

Packer...

Packer is a total write off.

How many seasons straight can a prop consistently produce sub 50 metre games.

He’s a complete joke and should be embarrassed with himself.

I am really looking forward to see how the forwards go in this trial.
I am sick of seeing them play for penalties every tackle, just want to see them get to elbows and knees and play the ball quickly.
If they do that the penalties will naturally come.
It’s the best part of James Tamou’s game so here is hoping it rubs off.

Whatever happens tomorrow just be thankful we don’t have to support the drag queens....some of their supporters have already lost faith in Griffin after getting thumped by souffs

Latrell Mitchell is worth a mention. Looks 10kg overweight but can still beat a man with minimal effort. Don’t like him much but got to admire his skill level

Got the skill / X factor of Greg Inglis but the commitment of Dave Taylor. FTR I think there’s no better player in the game when he’s on

100%. many think we’ve upgraded our forwards and I certainly hope so, that is where we have been way off in recent seasons. Apart from Souths the good sides win it in the engine room and we will need to see a much better pack than we have to make the finals. It’s disappointing Blore and Musgrove won’t start the season as they need to be big parts of the solution. Lots of questions still, could go either way.
