Let's cut to the chase.
The current CEO has made absolutely no progress towards this goal in five years.
Forget winning a premiership, during his time we haven't even finished in the top half of the ladder.
The fans are dished up a lot of excuses and self-serving PR about balancing the books and growing membership.
All this says is that we have a CEO who is good on the commercial side but can't build a footy club that can sustain a competitive roster every season through recruitment and development.
In the words of an experienced NRL administrator "winning is good for business".
The board need to bring in someone independent that knows how to run a footy club to do a full assessment on how we can improve.
As it stands, the lack of recruitment or development for 2021 should be ringing alarm bells for anyone who really cares about our club.
I’ve often believed that CFO is a much better position for Justin Pascoe. He can be the string puller as his obviously got the technical nouns but as the face of the club I believe we’d be better served with a less Business type.

I'm not a communist and I'm not having a shot at religious people but do like Marx's words - 'Religion is the opiate of the masses' - mission statements are the same. Hollow, meaningless words.
A better fix is to a put together a team with a goal and the will to work together to achieve it.

I think you'll find Pascoe is a sales and marketing guy, not a finance guy... He has never worked in finance centric role and has no financial qualifications (eg CA or CPA) to the best of my knowledge.

Fair call. Maybe we just move on completely then.
I do believe his focus leans more closely to the corporate side of the business and we still lacking someone that can bring both arms together.
Corporate operations- Pascoe
Football operations- Hartigan
Overseen by ???

Tell that to the military and law enforcement agencies around the world. We use Mission Statements all the time, and we take them seriously.

Maybe that is because of the value you place in them.

People follow those with good leadership skills, a genuine belief in what they are doing and a realistic plan to make it work. People see meaningless fluff for what it is.
The best leaders I have worked for were always the ones willing to get down and dirty with the crew and a genuine care for eveyone's welfare.
Never had time for those in ivory towers and I've worked with many of those.

Is this really true ? Like I said I've worked in an environment where all that stuff exists and I've seen it do a lot of harm. You need good processes and you need good people.
I don't believe mission statements or anything like that turn around an organization. I bet most teams follow the same approach. The team that wins has the best players and some luck go their way.
