The Merc A45 AMG 2.0 is a weapon with style and bling ..you’d pick up a second hand one for 40k with service history and under 80,000 k’s
Parts and service would be a rip off ..

But if your looking at just the basic A class hatch I’d be buying a Golf R

A45 is a bloody quick car. I have AMG C43 Convertible and that scares me sometimes. So quick off the mark.

My mates son in law has one .. I’ve driven it a few times .. they are quick ..
My skyline is quicker though ?

Skylines are going up in $$ what's yours an r33?

Can someone explain why enthusiasts have the bonnet open on modified cars ie cars with bright paintwork which have copped white leather interiors and 18 inch wheels? My youngest said something about bonnet lifters?

Depends on your budget Demps - I think Merc are decent, but a bit over rated. If you genuinely like driving - BMW definitely have a better connection and feel with the road. New VW Golf just dropped but they look too vanilla on the outside. If your budget doesn't extend beyond the base model A-class, then consider a Ford Focus - much better 3 cylinder engine than the Merc and BMW for that matter, and far cheaper to run but still fun to drive.

Good advice.

I do like the Focus.
Don't do much driving tbh.
But thinking about the next car.

Always owned Holden's growing up then transitioned into WRX's then most recently a 2002 Audi A4 Turbo. I guess as I've gotten older my needs and requirements in a car have somewhat shifted to practicality over performance and I got rid of the Audi for a Haval H2 LUX. So far for the price it's impossible to beat.

Definitely lacking the performance I'm used to in a car however putting that aside I couldn't be happier. Has all the modern bells and whistles that expensive SUV's have for a fraction of the price (Under 25k) and comes with a 7yr warranty and 5yr roadside assist to sweeten the deal.
