Why did you time it?

Because I was curious of how long it actually took and as I suspected it was longer than indicated. That’s from entrance to entrance. From the gates of the station until the gates of the stadium.

The planned light rail will connect parra stadium with main rail at Camelia I believe and also drop you closer to Parra station if you can’t walk. Think that’s a few years away from completion.

If they ever get to stage 2, that will connect Parra/stadium all the way to Homebush and Strathfield.

When does our anz contract expire?

It wasn't due to expire but we're not playing there this year so I guess it's finished.

I went ANZ as I think after they fix it up it may be better for regular season games. It’s a central location with easy transport and parking.

I love Leichhardt and Campbelltown as footy grounds but neither day we are a serious team with a vision for the future.

BankWest is a great stadium in a poor location. You can’t really drive in and if you catch public transport it’s a decent walk to and from the station. Same goes for the SFS it’s not the easiest to get in and out of.

I am sure the proposed upgrade of ANZ included a method to close off the upper deck (was it LED curtain) to make it better suited to normal sized club crowds. This would be a good idea, but sure I read recently that it may not be feasible.

There is no plan for the upgrade of ANZ and even if it was planned, with the SFS already significantly over budget what odds to you think that is the sort of thing that would be cut to save money!

May be better? No matter what they do it will still be less than 1/4 full when we play there!

You timed it for one reason and one reason only, so when it was brought up here you could use it as an argument. Really shows the attitude that you went to the game with to begin with doesn't it? Looking for your arguments before you even made it to the ground! lol

I think capacity is dropping to about 70k and if the top deck get curtained off then 25 k may generate some atmosphere. The lower bowl would be about 40k I reckon.

They have already canned the curtain at the SFS so very unlikely they will even include it in the plans for ANZ. 25k? So we will have some atmosphere for 1 game a year?

You must be a very fast walker @matchball and probably quite young. I reckon 10 to 15 mins more likely.

Maybe the curtain will happen, maybe not. I think it's more likely to be seen as a necessity in a bigger stadium though.
We average 18k at Homebush, I think we can grow on that if we ever have one stadium home ground. A bit of success would help too but, well you know....

@gallagher

Nah we still locked in a contract. bankwest stadium and anz are the same owners and we decided to go Bankwest.

The SFS is starting to use up the budget for ANZ!

So our crowds need to jump by about 33% to allow us to have some atmosphere, even if the build comes out as we hope?

Yes.
Look I think BW is the way to go but don't think ANZ will be a terrible choice if they go that way.
One of the 3 new stadiums will work better than what we are doing now.

if you want atmosphere you are following the wrong sport ...league fans have always been dull .
It doesn’t matter where a home team plays if they are losing there is no atmosphere.
In general , Australian crowds are always crap especially when losing !
Can’t beat the EPL for atmosphere

So play in a ground we can't even fill to 25%? That makes a poor situation infinitely worse!
