Where does Jason Taylor go with our great hooker policy now?!

If Taylor is not responsible for any of losses then I guess he can't be responsible any of the wins either. Can't have it both ways
Sort of makes him irrelevent.

I have praised him after several wins.

Its just funny that after a poor selections his little foot soliders want to talk about Oneill!!

OK lets play your silly game - Farah is ruled out injured -

Do you play Halatau - who everyone on here wants dropped and offers nothing in attack and little in defence
Do you play Cherrington - who isn't up to it and is supposedly going to Penrith
Do you play Liddle - good prospect but isn't up to NRL standard yet
Do you play Taylor who like Halatau isn't a hooker but offers more in defense and attack.

I play Halatau for 55/60 and either Liddle or Cherrington for 20/25 minute.

Im a fan of playing players in their specialist position, always have been. Simple as that.

JT wants Robbie gone, Ballin in a crock and Halatau will probably retire.

So if Liddle is the future (possible next year) we need to give him a short run.

YOu say Cherrington is not up to it? Well we was last year and early this year according to most people?

Exactly. I've given Taylor credit when he deserves it and I haven't until today said he gets the team selections wrong. We didn't pick the best team today to win that game. Yet again we just came in with a poor game plan.

Personally i'd play Cherrington - but if he has signed with Penrith then stuff him - He is not Cam Smith and we can get by without him - why give him the privilege of playing with us when he doesn't want to be here - my opinion of course is all based on rumour but if we want to build a culture then mercernaries shoud be shown the door.

Anyone who thinks Taylor doesn't pick the team is dreaming.
There is not one shred of evidence that anyone has power over him in this respect.
The board has come out on numerous occasions and said he has full control.
Everyone can stop blaming anyone else for team selections.

As if we need any more proof with Farah being dropped and Rankin returning.

However there are those that will continue to deflect.

Haven't you changed your tone

He is one of a few selectors (who would potentially carry extra weight being the head coach)

Please understand This is very common for professional sports teams.

To Have the head coach as the sole selector is not that common.

Lol

I suppose you think i'm deflecting.

Obviously you're referring to people like Eddie

That really is some fascinating insight into Mark O'neill and how he is approaching his role. Like TigerTorch said it is not the sort of hands on approach that someone like Bennett or Bellemy would appreciate. However obviously O'Neill feels it is required here to right the ship.

I think it is good to see O'Neill is asserting some authority if he feels like selection needs a shake up. Looks like he got sick of rubbish like Milone getting picked and Buchanan and now we are rewarding PERFORMANCE. Our culture of a lack of accountability at selections has cost us for years and years in my opinion.

Looks like he has no time for the boys club of mates being picked every week. If this is the start of a cultural change I am all for it. If Taylor won't make the hard calls well done Oneill for demanding it.

I have given JT credit several times this season GNR. Thats what you wont acknowledge?

What i find pathetic about you guys is you choose to ignore that and quote me only when i decide to have a go at him. Plus you think I am one sided yet you will do anything to deflect blame away from Taylor.

I credited Oneill if trying to shake up our culture around selecting non performers. Hardly the same as playing a lock forward at hooker.

In fairness I could have given Taylor more more credit for carrying these selections out including dropping Malone, Sironen and Buchanan. I thought that was a strong move and said so at the time
However like i said I have given JT credit in many other threads about talking the talk in regards to rewarding performance.

Now you wont go and dig them up because it doesnt suit your agenda. Or you dont remember them.

.

And there it is. You credit oniell for the good things but he's totally blameless on the bad things.
You seriously don't see the hypocrisy?

Like I said.

I have given JT credit for talking strongly about rewarding performance and that everyone is under pressure.

You just havent quoted me on it.

Yeah I can see JT's thinking , but he has this one wrong

You need a genuine dummy half , I'd of been happy with Masada Iosefa for Christ's sake today

The biggest problem with Liddle will be his lack of size and defence

It gives teams too many targets with Brooks and Moses as well as Liddle

Today I would of been real tempted to play Moses @ 9, Brooks @ 7, Lawrence @ 6 but get Lawrence defend in the middle of the ruck

You can call me that if you want.

Have a look at the post Souths game thread

I gave Taylor alone credit for his selection gamble of Farah on the bench paying off. I said give cedit to the coach. No mention of Oneill.

Where were you then?

That right that post doesnt suit your agenda

Did not ET play hooker the other week and we won?

When you have two FG quality hookers and both are out injured, you are always going to be cobbling together a solution from the rest of your roster.

I can imagine Liddle getting sent out, before his time, and the coach being decried for throwing him to the wolves, against Melb in Melb.

Or Cherrington missing goal-line tackles against the monster Melb pack and people criticising the coach for playing a guy who is leaving next year.

Basically we win and this does not come up.

Also interesting of note to see, once again, assistant coach Craig Sandercock doing all the talking at half time and JT standing there like a lost little boy.
Sack JT now. Pretender.

Didn't see that!!! I was out the back mumbling expletives so my partner didn't lose it at me, doing laps of the backyard at half time. I considered staying out there considering how we were playing.

If that's true about Sandercock and he was the one behind that comeback then he deserves the job and JT can head for hills with his tail between his legs. That would be the second or third time he's been caught on camera sulking in the sheds at half time letting his assistants dish out the motivation!

That stuck out like the proverbial during half time break, Taylor looked stunned.
Was probably wondering what time Centre Link opened on Monday
We could probably do a lot worse than giving Sandercock control for the rest of this season, before shulffling Taylor off for good at the end of the season. Gives us time to organise a replacement.
And don't give us the same ,"we can't afford to get rid of him"
He can't be on big Money , ( he wasn't exactly off the top shelf)

I think we are now in a pickle :crazy and obviously most other people on this forum agree. Now it seems they only have ONE HOOKER to turn to and who is that ROBBIE FARAH, this situation is quite ridiculous.
I was only wondering this morning what has happened to Cherrington, I thought he showed some good form when he first came on the scene, but it seems he has been relegated to the scrap heap, what a shame :crazy

Liddel wasn't ready for that game with their strong forward pack. We only barely held ground in the middle with a strong defender like ET.

I think we fail to see that last night selections were fine if we didn't have injuries. Halatau is a decent hooker and a good defender.

You're always going to struggle if someone goes down in a key position.

Correct and JT said as much in the press conference. Taylor was only to play hooker for the first 20 minutes.
