Where's our next 7

To me Brooks simply hasn't improved his game since arriving in the NRL 4 years ago. He can (and always has) been able to set up some tries with a nice pass but his defense, kicking game, decision making, game management and general execution of plays have not improved.

Next year is massive for him and whether he goes on to have a first grade NRL career or goes on to be one of those backup halfbacks that drift around between various clubs nsw cup squads playing a couple of games a season when injuries hit.

Maybe a full off season from Cleary will suddenly teach him where to stand on the field and what to do with the ball in certain situations but to me a lot is stuff players have in their gut instincts, they have vision and can see what their team mates and opponents are likely to do based on their body position etc. Brooks does not have these qualities, but I sure hope he can find them real quick!

This would be his last chance you would imagine, if he doesn't perform next year with a full off season under Cleary's guidance it should be bye bye.

I think the optimism on this forum about Nathan Cleary becoming a Tiger one day is great. But i just can't see it happening. I think father/son as coach/player in same club would be really hard and I can't see either Ivsn or Nathan wanting to be part of it. Sorry, I hope I'm wrong but don't think it will happen

I agree ….. unless they have a really special relationship it will not work.... and could be very disruptive for the team as a whole.
It's a no from me.
And as I said many times before ..... we have a 7 who will be given every opportunity to develop over next few years under a good coach and good team ...... or we just move on in another direction.

Brooks however is still intriguing, as there is no denying that he does have something to offer. He doesn't have the leadership or skill-set required of a FG halfback but I wonder if he could he play hooker? Is this a possible answer to this conundrum?

I'd love to see him tried at hooker. Hed be lightening out of dummy hslf.
Some will bring up his defensive issues but it's easier to defend in the middle than at halfback.

Brooks may be a nice young bloke, love the club and stay out of trouble, but he made his debut in 2013, played 80 odd games, he hasn't got it. I am so over all the excuses being made for him, he is young, just be patient, next year, well he has had 4 next years and no cigar, any other club would have punted him 2 years ago.

100% accurate. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee. Brooks is a good ISP half at BEST.
