Who will our marque player be for 2011?

Use the money to secure the long term services of Heighno, Lawrence, Ayshford & Moltzen

what he said and also if looking for a prop, how does Learoyd Lahrs sound? When is he off contract?

I have no evidence, but for some reason after the resounding success of Ellis I think we may be looking beyond our shores for our next "Paul Marquet" signing. Probably wrong but I think they would love to get a quality forward from the old dart

the last few years the Tiges have been a club that marquee players didn;t want to come too.
We should just up the contracts to re-sign our current key players this off season and then after this years success and what will be another successful season next year we'll have top notch players happy to take unders to play with us for the following season & then we're sweet

SEE here is the big problem…

When we win the Comp in 2010...it will be which Marquee player will we have to let go...

Hmmm...at this early stage sad as it is I would say Fitzy...

I reckon we should keep him. He is going to win a premiership with Wests Magpies this year! :sunglasses:

agreed.

that would give us a long(ish… TILL 2012) term squad of:

farah
marshall
moltzen
ellis
heighno
lawrence
ayshford
lui
fulton
galloway
ryan
i think Gibbs.... and mckinnon...

anyone there i've missed, or misquoted?

nonetheless, that core of players for the next 2 yrs minimum, and with farah and marshall on LONG contracts, should allow us to repeat the heroics of this year... It's an impressive core to say the least...

Nobody… Save our money to buy Darius Boyd for 2012!!!

Not sure if your kidding Watto..

Boyd has stated that he doesn't care what team he plays for as long as it is coached by Bennett.

–-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me lock up our youngsters... Prepare to let a few fringe players go like Jason Cayless and then go for it in the lead up to 2012.

We have to try and fit TNT, Moltz, McKinnen and Moors back in somewhere..

We will be lucky to maintain our current squad for next year and more so if we win due to the effects on player contracts and the tightness of the cap, we have a top 3 team already and that is with 2 star players not playing all year and 3 young players who were u20s last year now established first graders, we will be lucky to hold onto them let alone sign a new one and we dont need it TNT and Moltzen being added to any top 3 squad is huge

Wayne Bennett wont be at the Dragons in 2012.

It doesnt work like that. Firstly you must be continually active in the marketplace if you want to attract players of a high calibre, so its inevitable you also have to let players go. Further to that, most elite players like Marshall, Farah, Ellis & Tuqiri have structured pay cycles, traditionaly increasing throughout thier terms. Also, locking up youngsters is nearly impossible with the current Salary Cap Structure. Other clubs see there talent and pay them overs to get them, while your looking to shred $30k to fit in Farah's increase for next year. Bright Lights , Big City… Bye Bye!!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Tigers would of been well over the Cap this year if they didnt get the exemption for Tuiaki. The way forward was delivered in the later part of this season. Put your elite players on 3rd party deals, gain as many exemptions as you can to attract more elite players!!!

This is the Key and the way the Broncos do it legally…
