can we for once stop hunting for bargains and actually buy someone who is proven at NRL level? surely from the robbie farah settlement, 5th highest home crowds, new sponsors we'd have enough money? idc if we have to pay him or her more than JT, get someone prove, please.

Hahaha don't you know by now that we're the kings of the op shop bargains!

Can someone please tell me who Andrew Webster is? Seriously, I really don't know.

Coached our NYC team which included Moses and Brooks. Think he went to Parra and then assistant at the Warriors.

I think a few people have the same thought process as I do…. doesnt matter who our D coach is, I dont think any coach could turn our mob around on their own. I would throw the kitchen sink at a top line sports psychologist, not a new age type, but someone old school who could shape our summer prep around flogging them into a cohesive group with a "die for your mate" attitude.

Im sick of pretty. I want tough.

I image coaching defence is the whole team co-operating and knowing their role. Therefore how could you transfer players from position to position every week when attacking players would be coming from different positions, angles, speeds, weights, etc.. Each position would have it's own unique pattern of attacking player aspects to know and cover. How could these changed aspects be taught to many players every week? It would not surprise me at all if they got disillusioned by time of the Raiders game and just threw up their hands in hopelessness. So good defence coaching begins with the head coach who allocates player positons and roster. In spite of our ladder position the year was stuffed up in my opinion. Just for the players to have confidence I think the coaching positions should be very carefully looked at.

We could choose a Defence Coach who was the best tackler to have ever played NRL but that won't necessarily make a good defensive Coach. Our biggest issue is getting our outside defenders to read numbers coming at them. Could be a 75kg ex winger, just teach them to make the right decisions.

On 360 the panel rated Dean Pay as a really good assistant coach looking to step up. He has done wonders at Canberra. Hasn't lost a game as coach of the NSW under20\. Paul Kent said he had a good knack of getting players mentally ready on game day.

He has been the Warriors assistant slash defensive coach for the last 2 seasons .. and the Warriors have leaked more points then us in that period. . Lol great buy .

Thanks Formerguest, certainly wouldn't be my choice, not with that track record!

Someone who can instil vigour, aggression and a great tackling technique.
Contact the best defenders from years gone by, even from the 70's, 80's & 90's.
Look at their technique and adapt in the current game.

Kidwell wasnt bad on field… Often folding blokes in half...
If we've learnt anything from this, being a great defender in your day doesn't make a great coach

Yeah, I agree, would just like someone to come in, and have a good style, that shows all opponents, wests tigers, are brutal and ruthless in defense for entire 80 min. 😛ray: 😛ray:
I know dreams are free

Based on our 2 games against the Raiders & the last Penrith game…....we have alot of work to do on our defense.
Big mobile sides with big forwards and big backs.....we always seem to get smashed badly.

Think we have alot to consider before 2017 starts.
