Who would you guys like as our defensive coach next year

I think Steve Folkes would be a good acquisition for this role, but I fear he is already in a coaching job elsewhere.

He coaches the Australian Jillaroos Rugby League team last I knew of.

David Boyle.

But yes, looks like we'll get the hack from the Warriors, who, over the last two seasons, have conceded more points than us.

It's like upgrading from a HJ Kingswood to a Datsun 120Y

Fox sports reporting that Andrew Webster has joined West Tigers

Could we be positioning him here now as a backup plan if needed early in 2017.
If he already here as a defence coach, it would be a smooth transition. To head Coach if needed ??

Unless we get to the semi's, I'd say it's a fair chance that JT will get the axe. Webster has served a pretty lengthy apprenticeship and coming from within the ranks as an untested FG coach but reasonably successful lower grades coach would see that he'd come relatively cheap and would be no more of a risk than any of the other "cheap" coaches on the market.

lol.. Webster is not a defensive coach!

He is coming, but I highly doubt it will be as the defensive coach.

Whatever he is, he'd be better than we've got. The point is that he will be here if needed and had experience with the players and as far as I know was pretty well respected . Did he apply for the Head coach here last time?

can we for once stop hunting for bargains and actually buy someone who is proven at NRL level? surely from the robbie farah settlement, 5th highest home crowds, new sponsors we'd have enough money? idc if we have to pay him or her more than JT, get someone prove, please.

people in this thread realise that on field D means nothing in coaching D right?? we saw that with kidwell

we need someone smart as all hell - i thought that it was less the effort of our team in D but our right side isnt working together. we need someone to be able to drill into them what decisions to make and when

I will stick with my earlier post and say Dean Pay. Going great guns as an assistant at Canberra and has a very good record coaching the NSW junior teams.

matty elliott

I second that!
As I've mentioned previously, Matty Elliot has a hell of a lot of league knowledge and is very tactical minded.
Really enjoy listening to his throughts on the radio and on the nrl site.
However I have heard his left of centre personality and approach to the game has worked against him in the past.

I remember reading about the first day Phil Gould turned up at Penrith and asked Matty Elliot what he belives is wrong with the current team. The response from Gould was essentially 'I could not understand a thing he was talking about no wonder the players are struggling' and as a result he was sacked.

On the other hand, who here knew who Craig Sandercock was before this year?
Who would of thought that the assistant coach of last years wooden spooners would turn out to be such a revelation for us?
And what a fine job he has done with our attack.
Maybe another unknown like Craig might be the answer.
I'm sure JT and the club have their scouts working overtime.

Hahaha don't you know by now that we're the kings of the op shop bargains!

Can someone please tell me who Andrew Webster is? Seriously, I really don't know.
