Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

I see it as more of an omission he wasn't happy with Taylor…IMO I think Woods and Teddy were in a little click with Robbie Farah, remember Robbie? he talked Teddy into withdrawing his deal with the Raiders to stay loyal with the club..I think when Talyor snubbed Robbie out of playing his 300th game, Woods and Teddy deep down were extremely disappointed about everything and I don't blame them for that Clubs do turn on players when they have past their used by date.. I think Woods is sensing a better Culture under Cleary, good on him for at least stating it..that may help others sign?

That makes zero sense. If he was so unhappy with Taylor, why did he sign with the Dogs AFTER Taylor left?

Woods said… if Cleary had come along earlier he may have stayed meaning he's reason for leaving or staying may have been influenced by a better coach, it does makes sense.

This really kills the argument of we wouldn't have known if JT stayed around. It's obvious no one wanted him there. If he was sacked last year as he deserved to be, things could have been oh so different for this year and beyond.

"No one wanted him (Taylor)there" That's my point, something was going on with Taylor and the players that brought on his dismissal?.. I can only speculate of coarse, but I think Woods and Teddy decided to go long before they pushed Taylor of the cliff..I actually think by sacking Taylor they were hoping the big 4 would stay..it don't always work like that however Woods is offering some insight on what probably is usually kept quite for professional reasons. But if Cleary took over last year ( Woods: if cleary came along earlier) he may have stayed?

If Woods and Ted had of flat out said that they were leaving because they were not happy with the way Farah was treated and held reservations that the same could happen to them one day, they may have garnered some acceptance of the decision among the fan base. TBH I probably would have said fair enough myself as the way Robbie was treated was beyond shameful. I suspect it did have some weight in their decisions, however they (especially Woods) came up with every excuse in the books and lost all respect. Now everything they say on the matter sounds like BS. Had the board made Taylor follow Rob out the door and Ivan trained the side all off season would these blokes have stayed? I suspect all but Ted would have.

Yeah, you're probably right, I'm just trying to imagine that conversation between Robbie and Teddy about staying?..do it for your mates, it's a great club, etc etc and then a" boot up the backside" with a no thank you, or a memorable swan song like Renyolds had at the bulldogs to say goodbye to the fans, some people don't like it especially players? ..I agree with you in speculating that Teddy made his mind up in 2016 … a new coach probably wouldn't have changed his mind ..with Woods, this statement might be all B.S.... perhaps his trying to leave to door open on the way out? you don't burn your bridges at both ends..who knows, but something went down with Taylor kept quite IMHO.

Woods has spun so much crap he doesn't deserve to be taken at his word over anything he says. Yes he might think Cleary is doing a good job, but how much of that is rooted in regret over having second thoughts about the grass being greener on the other side. If the Dogs were sitting in the top 4 you probably wouldn't hear boo from him. But everyone wants to take him at his word to further the theory that he did not want Taylor there anymore. If Taylor was his issue, he"d have put pen to paper the moment JT was sacked, as would the others. End of.

"May have". Just like Teddy "may have" stayed if a deadline wasn"t imposed. Why would he have had to come earlier? Cleary only being here a couple of weeks was enough time to convince Noffa to re-sign when he was being hunted by Parra. But it wasn't enough time for the fake captain? Maybe because he'd made his mind up regardless who was coaching. The lip service he's paying Cleary now could be very well a way of him admitting he"s made a big mistake because the Dogs won't be what he thought they"d be.

I think it had some weight with their manager and his influencing them away from here…

The timing of Taylor going doesn't prove nothing in your counter argument, if anything the club may have made that decision to sack Taylor in hope to persuade the big four to stay?..no one knows, if Woods is sincere, odds are greater than zero percent Taylor had some bearing on there decision to go if Cleary has made such an impression on him..that is all.

When has Woods been sincere about anything over the last 6 months?

I said in another thread that your marquee players rarely leave their current club if they are offered decent contracts. We just had a bunch of guys who were trying to shaft the club over as much as they possibly could. I wouldn't trust a word out of any of their mouths. I wish they were gone a lot sooner.

I hope that we turn this club around quickly from this low point and never develop players with the poor attitude that these 3 have had.

He is probably crapping his daks that Des won't be there when he lobs up next year. Canterbury are on track to fare worse than us next year and are looking at an unproven coach in Pay. Probably trying to right the ship so he doesn't get booed out of the club in his last home game or in the hope that the club may take him back if it all goes to pot at the Dogs.

I don't think it was the case with Teddy, he knocked back more money with the Raiders to play with his mates after a conversation with his captain Robbie Farah..lets be honest here, the club and Taylor done the dirty on Robbie we don't know how that affected Teddy? who obviously looked up to him, we offered him more money than the Roosters and he still left… so there's more behind the reason for him leaving than him just shafting the club..I agree with you on Moses, and granted perhaps Woods is just spewing B.S..and yes Earl, we need to turn this club around and get behind them.

Tedesco's father was the guy who had the conversation.

I think Turdesco showed his true colours when he signed with the Raiders. He was always about getting the best deal he can for himself. The club would have paid plenty to keep him.

I also get the impression Turdesco didn't like Robbie. I can't be sure about that and I don't have any inside info but that is the impression that I have. I think Robbie was pushed out so that the other 3 excluding Woods would have control of the team.

If anything I think Turdesco is the worst of the three although he is easily the best player.

I just want them gone so the club can rebuild.
