Would you take Todd Carney at the Tigers?

A lot of risks with him. On playing ability, yeah I'd take him, but I don't think his playing ability is worth the potential risks.

The Roosters danced with the devil and look where they are now. We dont need him, we already have a team that is capable of winning the competition.

BTW Rambo, Carney is not a good citizen. There is much more that he has been up to that has not hit the papers. That's why the media is bemused that the Roosters keep giving him more chances.

I don't think they will sack him - the Rorters deserve Carney and he deserves them - a perfect fit in my opinion.

Roosters will sack him… Then all clubs will come out and say noway to him. Rumours will start of Rusty meeting him, Souths will deny everything in a strong publis statement, only to announce his signing 3 days later...

You know it will happen

Personally, I think Carney needs to take a year off footy and get some help. Regardless of whether the Roosters should sack him or not is irrespective at this stage. They need to render any treatment he needs for his alcohol and mental problems. This is not a game anymore, this is a real life issue here involving a young man. I fear for Todd Carney if he doesn't get treatment.

What a sensible post, that is exactly how I feel, this is no longer and has not been for awhile, a footy matter but a severe health and social issue. He is clearly an unwell man and in self destruction mode. The best thing that could happen for him is to step away from the game and get the help he needs, that help is not a quick fix, but rehabilitation. As stated above if this is not implemented and Carney does not help himself, he will be another statistic. Playing footy is the least of his problems.

No To Carney but i will go to his farewell piss up!
We defo need a fullback milne would be handy

No thanks. He is trouble we don't need. How many times has he said he's staying off the drink because his future depends on it, and how many times has he been found out? He needs help which the NRL can't provide him with.

No thanks.. Carney's off season starts in 4 weeks, so how long before we are listening to Noyce defending this bloke again?? IMO the people at fault here are the roosters board members for not standing up to Nick Politis and sacking Carney.. Sack him, but support him whilst he gets help, then hope he comes out a better PERSON after rehab..

have him at wests-tigers?? no.
like him or not, he is player with so much potential, letting it all slip away.
as we all know in life, you can't help those, who won't help themselves.

In 2009 Goulburn local court banned him from town for 12 months, even though his mother still lives there. Good citizens do not receive restraining orders from their home town.

Yes in a heartbeat

I believe in a club with a strict coach i think Carney woul beat his demons.

Imagine Carney at half back and Marshall at 5/8 :master:

nope.

he needs some time away from everyone else to realise what a wonderful world it is if you follow rules .

its how our world operates.

I`m a fan of Robert Lui, but with rumours that Lui might be considering moving to a Queensland based club, Carney would be ideal to play halfback for us.
He`s not an alcoholic, an alcoholic is someone who is drunk every day of the week.
The Roosters playing group who decided to impose an alcohol ban for 2 weeks this late in the season when they are no hope of making the finals and after playing terribly all season are off their heads.

great to read so many posters see the real issue. and ink, i agree. drink every day and you're an alcoholic. but binge drinking is as bad if not worse a problem. i really hope he gets better, but also agree he has in this case done very little wrong and no way will be sacked.

heres how i see it panning out: roosters delay delay delay until a few weeks into the offseason where they announce he isn't sacked. the timing will have an out of sight out of mind effect and come 2012 this will just be a blur in carneys history.

no i wouldn't like him at the tigers, but only because it would be a massive blow to the guys there (imagine someone known to be a problem who does the same job you do showing up in the office?) and demoralising to the young half backs/full backs hoping for a go.

would love to have him at fullback but as has been said, there is way more to the dynamic of a successful team than talent alone.

ps: anyone else think it is sort of funny his name is Carney?!! i.e.; "carny" - person who works at a carnival/fair (US)
