WT Player Recruitment & Retention for 2020

Love how a player during his negotiations is referred to him and “his camp”. Like these big boys can’t handle negotiations on their own.

If the caps reducing you would think it’s the guys like McIntyre who cop the worst of it. Instead of an upgrade he might have to take the same if our cap is tight, if we release someone he will get his upgrade. I would hope he understands that and can be patient for one year and stick by the coach who gave him a shot, wouldn’t blame him for wanting more money in 2021 and going somewhere else though

If all they have offered Sam is a lousy 100k, as much as i really like him and think he would be perfect for lock - I hope he gets a much better deal elsewhere.

Absolutely ridiculous - no wonder we lose good players.

I think he deserves more than that but I also can't see him being a quality NRL player. We need to manage our cap better and these sorts of things are going to happen.

Bit worrying McIntyre hasn’t re-signed

With Madge and Pascoe away for the week things may start to move next week who knows they may have been on a road trip for recruiting purposes???????

Fingers definitely crossed one of their priorities is a contract for Sam.

Sam has not spoke to anybody, so those boys were definitely not up here.
If he is a priority the club is not showing it in his contract offer.
So does anybody body here think 100k is a reasonable offer!
The development boys are close to that
He said it's quite insulting really!

100k is an insult not an offer.Very disappointing if that is all we are offering

Its too low and 150-175k would be about right. But at the same time I imagine the club has said something like we can only offer you 100k at the moment but we're working on done deals to free up some space but we value you a lot so hang tight and we'll get back to you.

Players at his end of the cap can always find a club, even late in pre season.

Show me an apprentice that gets paid around that much.
And at this stage of his career that’s all he is.
Second year syndrome will determine his true value.

I like him, but if no one is looking to outbid us, why would we pay him more? Might be the choice between 100k here or Burleigh Bears.

Isn’t minimum wage 110k ? I seriously don’t believe that poster at all. He’s probably been offered minimum for next year due to our rubbish salary cap and an upgrade for the second and third year. He’s played like 10 nrl games . And started 1 . He could be worth a lot more , but he isn’t right now . We have to stop paying for potential , and in kind reward those who show loyalty , and a desire to develop here .
There needs to be clear pathways for remuneration . Ie. if you sign for your correct value , you will then get the upgrade to your correct value if your price rises.
This time last year most on here were saying who is this useless bludger McIntyre taking up a top 30 position. He had a good year, and if he backs it up next year , we should reward him , once the 3mil of dead weight is off from around our neck.

The extra $100,000 going to Addo-Carr
We have to pay for him somehow

“His camp wants more”? More than the $350k? 😉

Momo, Masterton, Strongee and Westigerman, guess you all won't be disappointed when Sam heads off to another club. You have to look after yourself and taking a pittance, which 100k is for playing NRL is just not on.

Go get a few bucks where you will be appreciated Sam.

Not very. I like him but I would rather have kept Eisenhuth.

Sam looked solid rather than a standout in our team, which means he is not a standout at this point. 100k is low balling, but he is not an established first grader and paying much more than about 150 is what leaves the salary cap in a mess.

30 players under a $9 million salary cap averages at 300 k per year.

Take out Packer (700k), Reynolds (700k), Mbye (800k), Doueihi (500k), BJ (500k) and the rest average at 230k per year.

Sam is towards the bottom of the 30 man roster & therefore should be expecting well under average salary

James Tedesco’s deal with the Roosters has been delayed until after the season due to reports of some pretty extreme demands from the superstar fullback.

The Daily Telegraph reported in September that Tedesco had all but locked up a five-year $6 million contract to finish his career at the Tri-colours, but negotiations have stalled.

Brent Read told Triple M that the length of the deal is a point of conjecture, with the Roosters keen for a three-year deal, while Tedesco’s camp wants more.

Let's get him back. 5 years for teddy is doable.

I'd give him 8 years on $1.4m a season. yes I'm still in love with him.

Corey Parker never had an agent and he seemed to do alright for himself....might be the exception to the rule though

A lot of clubs are going to be in the same position

Maybe but for a player who has shown what he can do this year - 150k is not to much to expect.

Not me. Hope he has a miserable last few years with the rorters. Wishful thinking I guess, but I can hope. Can't stand the guy for what he did.
