WTF – Wests Tigers Faithful Podcast

Well done guys, great start in the lead up to the trials. Excellent to get your thoughts on the lower grades and in particular the insights from Mitch. I hope that the coaching staff have similar ideas in relation to the use of TDS. He is already pushing Api and in my eyes is ready for NRL. Having him serve a decent apprenticeship will do him no harm!

Although we are shallow in some positions; overall, you guys are on the money with the depth we have now in comparison to previous seasons.

Absolutely fantastic podcast, all I can say are the early trending numbers and sheer volume of requests to be involved or just guest and get around a great bunch of lads has been eye-opening.

Thank you guys for continued humility and hard work 👍🏽

Awesome lads! More guest interviews than the club itself to start 2025. WTF Podcast might become the new official podcast of Wests Tigers haha

Potential questions for Gallant:

1) Are there any players in our junior pathways (most likely SG Ball) who have development and/or Top 30 included for them down the track ('26,'27, etc)? Thinking along the lines of Godinet, Haywood, Taupau-Moors, Xavier T, Tannous who are all players the club seem big on.

2) This year seems to be the most depth our KOE Cup squad has had in years. What challenges present themselves in trying to build such a large, quality filled squad? Is it difficult keeping these players at the club if they spend time in Ron Massey?

3) Any names of players who have been impressing behind the scenes and we should keep an eye out for in Harold Matts, SG Ball, Flegg and KOE Cup this season?

Potential questions for Tim and Noah:

1) For both...What positions have they both been training during the pre-season? Have their coaches given them any indication where they will be playing/minutes,etc?

2) For Tim...What players has he been looking up to during the NRL pre-season (who has been killing it)? Has it been competitive at training as we approach trials and the first round of selections? Any army camp details?

3) For Noah..Goals for the season ahead? Who is leading the training/ impressing the most at KOE Cup pre-season?

Id ask Gallant what he will do to aid players coming through our pathways make the leap to professional football as a career. Weve seen far far too many get huge wraps in the pathways and not fulfil their potential when they are graded. What we are doing currently is not working and that includes promoting guys well ahead of their time.

Id ask Tim Johannssen why he nearly gave the game up when he is still a young man and how dedicated he is to earning a spot in this squad considering that there are opportunities currently to stand up and cement yourself in the conversation.

Id ask Noah to introduce himself.

to Shannon...some people called Sheens the fonz because he could admit he was wrong about you. Do you think the nickname should of stuck?
Footnote...really annoying at the time but kind of cool thinking back

Loving the pod fellas. Any insider interviews like this are really appreciated & gives you a point-of-difference from other pods.

Some good questions already supplied for Shannon Gallant & the Johannssen bros above & a few more I'd be keen on ...

For Shannon:
- Can he give us an insight into Wests Tigers pathways contracts. Are they the level below Dev and T&T contracts? How many roughly do we have on these & maybe a few names? We've seen recently Xavier Tauaifaiga sign on one for 25-27 announced by his management.
- Maybe some background on why we released the Large brothers if they were both on pathways contracts.

For Noah & Tim:
- (Noah) Who has been killing it in NSW Cup pre-season that we should keep an eye out for?
- (both) Who are the kings of the gym this pre-season in both NRL & Cup squads?
- (both) Do coaches sit them down individually to map out their individual goals, areas for improvement, where they see their future etc?

Look forward to these pods! Keep up the great work!

Can we ask the Johanssen boys do they only consider themselves as middle forwards, or has their been any discussion about either of them possibly playing on an edge ?

I would have had Tim running there all off season perfect body shape for 2RF but the question, enough pace?
Based on his 40m individual try scored while playing NSW Cup late last season, he looks to have plenty of pace and agility for a forward and as you say, has the perfect body shape for a modern day 2RF.
The only question mark would be defence as it is quite a specialised role defending on an edge and if the player makes bad defensive reads it ends up a disaster.
