Luciano Leilua

Luciano Leilua granted early release

Wests Tigers have granted Luciano Leilua an early release from his playing contract, effective immediately.

Leilua signed a three-year deal in November last year to join North Queensland Cowboys for 2023 and beyond.

He will now join the Cowboys for the remainder of this season.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says Leilua has made a valuable contribution to the club.

“We wish Luciano the very best with his future.

He and his family have made a lot of friends here at the Wests Tigers and they will be missed.”
This is why we are the laughing stock of the NRL.

Well done Pascoe

YES.

Everyone is missing the main point here....we clear cap room.

Just say Mikaele and LL have cleared up 400 grand combined for 2022, you can now offer all of that to upgrade Hastings and one other as part of a long term extension.

Luciano was not going to help us do anything in 2022 from here.

The money saved may well allow us to upgrade key spots going forward. That is a big win.

Sure,I've been hearing we've got money and cap space for quite a while now and that's
great.

It's also great we could use this money to upgrade our current contracted stars.

But,we've lost two forwards in an area we're already struggling in.

It's embarrassing to have cap space and cash nobody but our own wants to take it.

Even though Lucy was a flog on the weekend again....Glad he's gone.

But we aren't looking good on the recruitment front.

I hope we've got something better than just upgrades in mind.

I’m not sure what is going on but wow I can’t believe they just let him go , shows how weak we are , I’m even not sure bringing Sheens back is a good idea as he’s been away many years the game has changed and bringing juniors through has not worked , most clubs just poach , , letting Lucy go with zero return is weak and after all these years of no finals footy he declares we are ona 5 year rebuild and develop , I think they have forgotten where they are , it’s in the NRL. Best football in the world and winning is everything , we need a heap of talent not kids and a solid experienced coach , Ciraldo won’t get us out of this and neither will the kids ,
coach , Flano
assit Backs , Cronk
assit Forwards , Gallen
onfield Runner , Farah
purchase players , Vaughan , Lodge , Back rowers x 2 , Centre / Fullback

Been saying luchiano is hopeless for years.

Agree...we just can't seem to negotiate smart when it comes releasing players early...when did we last get a player we signed early?...apart from Daine Laurie

Im not sure how people on here dont understand the benefit of clearing cap room now and either signing other players or front paying others. It means we have more cap room next year and anyone who thinks players and managers wouldnt jump at being paid ahead are idiots. Who wouldnt want to save a year interest on that equivalent of a mortgage or invest it for a year and make an extra 2-10% for nothing. If you make the call this year is over which we did last week then it was the right and smart thing to do. Good move by the club
