Official: Three Life Members to lead coaching succession plan

Yoss sums up my thoughts too
Whilst Kenty was trying to make Benji say he wasn't ready, Benji held his own and defended the club, but Benji did say one interesting thing when asked how can you improve this team. He said we will be playing a different style of footy that has been coached in to the team, we will encourage the players to trust their instinct, that right there was a shot at Madge and his coaching, and coaching a style that the squad can't play.

I can see why they announced benji as head coach. It’s gonna help get people to the club knowing who the coach is going to be after tim is gone

I was super skeptical and had a lot of questions when I first found out the plan but the more I think about it the more I’m on board with it looking forward to see what they come up with

He said the current squad will get a “chance” to play Sheens/Benji ball, and there has clearly been a recruitment problem. The honesty is very refreshing.

Wow. That makes it all worthwhile.

Maybe it’s one of those things that just needs time to absorb. It might as well, it’s set in stone. Everything about it is surreal. Sheens is back, Marshall is going to be a head coach, even though 2 weeks ago he’d never given any indication of having ambitions of being a first grade coach. Doesn’t feel real.

My big concern here is that Benji can be stubborn. If after a year or 18 months he realises it’s not really the job for him not won’t pull out and will just plough ahead.

Of course I hope this all works out and turns out to be genius but it’s a massive shot in the dark.

I think they’ve identified that for a while now the WT playing group is mostly here for their attractive salary and doesn’t have an emotional attachment to the jersey. It’s pretty evident to me in how they commit when they’re tested on the field. They play as individuals rather than as a team. Bringing back people who genuinely care for the jersey makes a lot of sense to me. They will still need to get players who buy in.
This is 💯 it ! Watching mercenaries lose constantly is horrendous . But the reality is if we didn’t ply them these last 5-7 years we would be fielding a Sydney cup side, how poor our pathways have been . Finally we have a batch . Now we have to cultivate this , and most importantly find the next batch .

We will still need to cherry pick some ready made pros and also pray these young kids aren’t being over-hyped.
