Hastings lock

The thing about him also is he's so consistent. Really he's playing like the perfect modern day lock: strong defensively, hard running, good line speed and silky and confident distributor. He's fast for a forward too, and so his lateral movement has helped our defensive line and line speed. Really can't fault him and he's been up against two of the best forward packs this year and two teams beating most of the others.

It wouldn't work if he wasn't able to get through the work or handle the extra physicality but he actually gets stronger throughout the game and he's better at holding the player up in defence than all but Alex twal in our forward pack.

I liked him at halfback, I like him even more now.

and whats going to happen to the grub that did it - a fine, maybe a week...
edit - just saw he's been referred straight to the judiciary, hopefully he does get treated appropriately.

Nah, I think there’s a decent chance they smash him. Nobody likes gutless tackles like hip drops and cannonballs and the NRL can’t afford to go soft on them given the injury risks. If he gets a soft penalty it will be because the panel is dopey enough to swallow a technical defence.

yep, looks like he's been referred direct so hopefully they don;t go soft on him

We need to realise our pack is without lucy, blore, stefano and Twal. You add that punch in and suddenly Hastings at lock ain’t so bad as the big bois can carry their weight unlike Musgrove, Kelma etc.
And then add Api and our reluctant marquee from the Eels (who I believe WILL be with us whatever he may or may not want right now) and you have a pretty decent pack

8 weeks min for that low life tackle , NRL needs to really stand up and show some intent on getting rid of it out of the game , our player is gone for 3 months
I would like to see, the NRL implement the following:
The suspended player is out for the time of recovery of the injured player.

In this case Jackson is out for 3 months, then the suspended player is out for 3 months.

This would soon stop this type of tackle being used.

Reminded me of the career ending tackle on Tuiaki. Carrigan should be out for the season, but will probably only get a fine. Meanwhile from memory Hastings was put on report earlier and will probably cop a longer suspension.
