Leichhardt oval's end

Yeah nah. Leichhardt may not be up to standard to host nrl games anymore, but it still hosts a lot of community sport, more than many other nrl grounds in fact. The chances of it being knocked down and converted to 'health faciliteies' (sic) is zilch.
Plenty of room practically next door in the NSW Ambulance HQ to build a new hospital and provide updated facilities for the ambos. The site is as run down as Leichhardt Oval and there is much under utilised space. New facilities would provide the workplace that the ambos deserve. The union green bans saved the Rocks heritage years ago and what is a unique past of our history which we appreciate today. Places like Leichhardt Oval need to be preserved for the future!

Tomorrow Perrottet announces a $500 M brand new stadium to built on the site of Leichhardt Oval, construction to commence immediately, completion for the start of the 2025 season..

How many votes does it give him in March 2023?

How many votes does it cost him in March 2023?

Same state Gov that pledged 300
million to revamp the stadium out
in Penrith out of all places smh ...

The Wests Tigers are bankrolled by Wests Ashfield, the COE is in Concord and Balmain has a strong junior system, so I can't see the club moving out of the area anytime soon. We could shift our Leichhardt games to the SFS if Uncle Nick obliges. Though it is a public asset, the roosters of course should decide who plays there.
Why would the rorters have the right to say who plays there, and as you stated it is a public stadium, it should be shared, and the obvious one to share it with would be souths, redfern oval is a lot worse than leichhardt oval, and it is only about 4 or 5 kl from each other.

Not a seasion ticket holder and havn't been to LO since about 03. Not a true fan am I.
not saying you are not a true fan
what I am saying is if you don't go to games regularly mainly the interstate guys then it shouldn't matter where we play as you wouldn't be going anyway

There is no 'stadium' there at all. It's a training field with 7 rows of seats along one side - capacity of a few

LO is a holy place for me and would to hate see its demise.
But at present I think there’s a lot of political posturing going on but if it truly comes down to a decision between flood relief and sporting fields then floods will win,
I may be off the mark( again) but location wise and for facilties surely Commbank remains a good option for our supporter base.
And if we are going to be the Wests Tigers surely it makes sense.
I agree that Homebush could be a second option, purely because if it’s facilities and accessibility but don’t think that the new stadium and North Sydney really would ever fit in our plans.
If the government does find money, and I hate to say it, I would rather see a new ground at Liverpool to be shared by us and Dogs.
That makes the most sense imo.

It matters to me because, in my opinion, to get out of this loser mentality the cub enjoys, it needs to get into this this century and get into a modern facility.
Pascoe was going on last week that his little baby brings modern facilities that will attract the best of the best to the club. Why wouldn't that apply to where they play?
Rubbish facilities, when there is better options, will only continue to provide rubbish results.

I was told ages ago by someone thats in the know that the eighth wonder would be demolished at the end of the 2023 season.
the land is state govt owned and the money from the sale would be put to better use providing better health faciliteies for the people of greater sydney.
so look at it this way balmain tigers fans youre losing a run down footie ground but you will be providing better health care for yourselves in return and you will find your new balmain leagues club will be up and running in no time at all at all.
a minority of one eyed balmain tigers fans will say this is disgraceful, but the more reasonable thoughtful and understanding balmain tigers fans will quickly realize the medical facilities provided in lieu of a crappy football ground will provide a lot more than you realise today.
plus we will get to play most of our home games at only two grounds the new sydney football stadium and campbelltown.
Campbelltown stadium is a shithole as well.

Reason given is that the government needs to pay for flood relief.

How does the funding work? Why is the government involved at all? Isn’t there enough money generated from the ticket sales to pay for the grounds? Who owns Leichardt Oval, anyway? Does anybody know how it works and could explain it for me?

It’d be a real loss for it to close down. When I was living at Rozelle, used to walk down there with my dad… it’d be a waste I reckon.

The next thing you know, there’ll be an apartment block there. Sydney’s corrupt AF. Perrotet needs the dough for re-election. Tell me we’re not all thinking the same?
I think you’ve been living in Rozelle too long

If you are really lucky one of the above mentioned may make a quick speech from the safety of a sponsors/board private box in between the stuffing of prawns lobster caviar and hors douvres washed down with copious amounts of alcohol before the carnage commences.Who knows they may have even found a bottle or two of Bazza's Grange he forgot to take with him.
A good time will be had by all except of course for us supporters

Can you imagine all the noise complaints from the residents? Rozelle is full of greenies and lefties…more interested in new vegan restaurants than rugby league.

As was previously posted, the ground is owned by the Inner West Council. Council will have banners around the ground and a message painted onto the surface of Leichhardt Oval.

Optus stadium 🏟
I don’t live in Sydney so I don’t hate this idea, only problem is we aren’t owned by news limited and the nrl will not give us an armchair ride through the comp like when melb or briz set up. So I can see them saying yeah sure go there and the ditching us not long after.

I don't mind SFS for some games but not all I think there is a place for 1 or 2 games a year at LO and CSS

If we have to go to a single stadium this is by far the best option as it is centrally located for all of our supporter base
Less then 10k from the COE and not far from Ashfield. How long before squatters rights kick in.
Why did we get out of the Homebush deal?
Does anyone else play out of there?
If we can get it as our own I’d be in. Drop the wests and become the Sydney Tigers. Before people get upset I was a magpie.
