Adam Doueihi #227

Can he ball play like Hastings or Yeo or Murray do in that position ? I don't see it.
He can’t ball play now, if he could he may make a good 5/8. If he does sprint training over the summer he may make a good centre. If he bulks up and could defend consistently he may make a good 2rf. He needs to work on his game drastically over the summer to cement a position not just for us but for his career or he will end up a utility.

I agree, Adam would have been far better off choosing a 3,4 or 13 jersey and establishing himself as the club’s best in one of those positions.
He’s a good player out of sorts for some reason, and now wanting a big contract. Laurie now is also asking for a 100% pay rise. Maybe their managers have indicated to them there’s interest from other clubs?
Someone posted that Staines needs to gain another 10kg, and the sad reality is that’s the case with too many in our squad.
We’re a bottom feeder club, Dolphins, Sharks and others are only leaving us the small fish.
What big fish would that be?

Love Adam D,

Great attitude, Fights to Win, Wants to be part of a successful Wests Tigers

He and Hastings are absolute top priority Retains
1000% don't understand the hate for him lately... seems to be the only one in the team who can break the line and create something for us

If we're looking for a scapegoat then AD isn't the one - other 16 people on the field

I understand his defence has been poor towards the backend of the year, but has anyone this year barring maybe 1-2 been solid in D lately?

Even his GK got a lot better and you can tell he has that work rate, as a 6 he needs to be in the right system to be successful - as much as I hate to admit it if he goes to Melb with Pap, Hughes and Grant he'll be elite.... now we can either create a system for both him and Hastings to deliver or we can bash them I know which option I prefer

Poor defense, goes missing, limited game (great runner, great long pass to his right, great bomb but not much else), overpaid and a primma donna demanding to play 6 but not performing up to standard.

At his best he is awesome. He was my favorite player and I thought he'd cement the 6 spot this season but he didn't.

Defensively I can agree but the whole team was poor so tough to point fingers purely at him - I have faith in AD as a player to understand that wasn't his strong suit and to work on it during pre season and come back more polished, he has the work rate in him to commit too it - we all remember how Brooks use to be in that regard

Respectfully disagree about his limited game, he's a fantastic runner of the football with a good offload in him too, his passing is exceptional and he can also put up a very good bomb plus a good GK too... as a 6 what more do you really want?

Also is barely overpaid imo, I believe we're only paying him about 500k and for someone who I believe was our only attacking threat all last season I'm not too mad at that price tag... someone else on the team worth double that whom barely has the kicking game or running game AD had last season

The kid believes he's a 6 nothing wrong with that... once again if he was in the right system he would be a good 6 also don't doubt if we were to move him at centre/lock he would complain as much as people make it out - as long as we pay him his market value if he can get more $ elsewhere from another team be my guest but I do doubt that

He did come back from a very serious knee injury and his preseason was hampered. It's for this reason that I'm cutting him some slack.
Give him a solid preseason under the new coaching staff and then judge imo.
All said and done I don't think he has earnt the big bucks tag yet because he still hasn't proven he can regularly win matches for us.
I stand by what I said about him being a top class centre. He just needs to knuckle down and get on with it.

AD started 3 games this season next to both Hastings and Brooks let's remember - also coming off his second ACL floating position to position

Those 3 games

Cowboys 27-26 - we all know we beat them
Penrith 18-16 - tight loss
Eels - 20-28 - tight loss

Against the 3 best teams in the comp and we went with them imo - give the kid a full injury free preseason with those 3 with Api and Papalili coming and he might benefit more than yous think

Yeh I know but a quality centre like Manu can demand good coin.
I've just seen a steady change where players are getting more due to their influence on the game.
Manu is leaps and bounds ahead of every centre in the game though - most centres move on to play #1 or #6 long before they get to his level.
I feel that most other clubs would have been playing AD at centre to get his defence right before moving to #6, but we're the Tigers so whatever.

I've got mates who support a variety of teams but the one thing they all agree on is that AD is our best player.
Not sure why he's copping such a bagging after an ACL injury screwed his entire off season and most of this year.
The guy is a a keeper, as is Hastings.

Brooks fans deflecting....

I don't think I'm being harsh. He did come back from a major injury. When he played well he was really good.

I still think his career is at the crossroads. He has so many flaws in his game.

He has advantages over Brooks as well. He is a big body and I've said multiple times he can hit hard. It's the consistency that is the issue and that is the same thing in his game.

Respectfully disagree about his limited game, he's a fantastic runner of the football with a good offload in him too, his passing is exceptional and he can also put up a very good bomb plus a good GK too... as a 6 what more do you really want?

I should have stated he is a really good goal kicker as well. His passing isn't exceptional though. He has a great long pass to his right. I don't think he is a good ball player though or even close to it. Did you ever watch Cliffy Lyons ? He could ball play. I don't think Doueihi has that in him. I've never seen him do that. He isn't creative in that way. This is why I also don't consider him a 13 because he can't ball play.

He has an excellent bomb but his overall kicking game is poor. His short kicking game is poor and is long kicking game is poor. Brooks cops it but he is significantly better than Douihi in both of these aspects.

I think he can make it as limited 6 ala Jack Wighton. I'm not knocking this either. I still think that is currently his best position. I prefer him at 6 than centre.

I think he'd be better off though learning to tackle and becoming an edge backrower. That way he can still throw those long passes and he would be predominantly a runner. He can do exactly the same at 6 and that is how I think he should play at 6. I also think hopefully we have better options at 6 longer term.

Also is barely overpaid imo, I believe we're only paying him about 500k and for someone who I believe was our only attacking threat all last season I'm not too mad at that price tag... someone else on the team worth double that whom barely has the kicking game or running game AD had last season

I'm fine with him getting paid $500k. I believe that is what he is worth. My understanding (which is just my assumption from reading reports at the time) is that he is on more like $650k.

I think we basically agree. I'm disappointed in how he played this year and maybe that comes across in my posts. I was expecting him to step up a be a top tier player. He did that in one game this year and he was special. That was against Brisbane. Apart from that he had I think 2 decent halves of footy.

I think he can play 6 and do the job there for us. I wouldn't move him to the centres. I think longer term he will be better in the backrow but I could be wrong.

He has a lot of stuff to work on in his game.

So the season was written off before Douehi gets back on the field from our head of football dept - and ya wonder why his performance after ACL, a wretched injury toll, and players being given to other teams wasn't up to scratch. If Sheens has been given a pass for results this season, given he was responsible for most of the decisions that impacted negatively on the squad this year, Douehi is entitled to be given some leeway.

he was signed as a fullback from souths
then moved into the 6
The guy is a centre
if he could tackle maybe a 13
