Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I remember back at school where there was this idea going around amongst the coaches to offer sprint athletes a chance to trial with the firsts.

The biggest problem is they had no real strength, skill, timing or agility. They also didn’t have the motivation to compete in contact.

It was all straight ahead for these guys. Even when they made a break, they were easily knocked off their centre of gravity.

Needless to say, most ended up in 2nds, 3rds or 4ths

Sounds like the "fastest white man alive" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Clark 11 tries in reggies

I love what Kent said if true... Our CEO doing his job and saying what us fans want to hear.. You come or you sit out and it's that simple. Sounds like the Eels are moving on as well

I have no problem added Brown either as that another aggressive forward..

Not reading too much onto the Munster comment but you never know if you never try..

Sounds like tigers wanted Brown to stay on parra cap this year

Agree jonesy @hsvjones can't sit
On our hands, give it a crack who
Cares what it looks like from the
Outside in. Thow your name in the
Hat at least, it shows some intent..

The Isaiah story is a beat up, he'll
Report to training after the world
Cup. He was focused on the finals
Run - why wouldn't you be. Proves
To me he respects his colours.
It's a media beat up, our club is an
Easy click for these lazy assed
Journalists. We have some of the
Loyalist fans in the game, Balmain
& Western Suburbs. WT Let's go

Seems Staines on close to 500 even if its 450 .I know Peachy deal was 750 for 2 years 2022/2023 . Its either 375 per year or 350 and 400 .So close a swap money wise . My problem is that I'm not that excited about Staines who
mostly plays reggies albeit in a top club . He's basically a winger and we have plenty of wingers Nofo ,Kenny ,Naden , Toa and Kepoa the last 2 have played a bit of center but not successfully .Toa was winger at Knights and Naden was a winger at the Dogs
Staines is better than toa, kepoa…

Did I say that?

I don't know how we're progressing....
Neither do you, I suspect.
You're the one banging on like you know exactly what's happening.... Or not happening.
Truth would be - You have no idea who they're chasing - Who they're talking to - Or for when.

Am I happy I don't know?
It doesn't bother me - I Don't work for the club.
Do I have a wish list - Fantasy squad?
Do I think we're short and there are players that can help?
Of course I do.

Unlike most here
- I've actually had a look at the list of off contract players (We can actually talk to) for next year - And there's not much on it... So I have massive expectations for massive signings (or improvement)
I am of the opinion, Any money we saved for released players this year
- Has helped us curb the damage of our overpaid players for next year and beyond
(Of which there are many) - Leaving room for extra spending in 2024
(When all the good players are off contract - in line with the cap rise)

If we jag a surprise victory in recruitment, Whether it's getting rid of deadwood or a class signing, I'm all for it. But I don't think (And whinge) about it every day...
Again, I don't know what they're up to.... I'm certainly not about to post like I do.
Here’s what we know. Player agents go straight to the media when WT make their interest known. So we do know, and it’s a shit show.

Jackson Topine .. I think many clubs look at this guy and thin he is too small to be an effective forward 181cms 95kgs. (Luke Brooks is 180cms and 90kgs). Topine is 21 yrs young and I don't think he'll get any taller, he may get heavier but I just don't see him as an impact player.

BTW .. Blore is 190cms and 108kgs
Weight is number, and Luke brooks is not 180cm.
Look at topines numbers - mtrs, tackles, defence. If we concede on your weights and heights, musgrove should be resigned, geez how did tumeth get a deal?? Is he going to get taller over the next three years ?

Tumeths going to get rag-dolled if
He doesn't build his body up.
Running straight how he does
In grade is lunch meat for NRL
Players who pride themselves on
The otherside of the ball. I think
We rewarded his loyalty with the
Deal, it was strategic, looks good
Optically. He's pintsized nxt 2 men

Do you remember Alan Jones bringing the athlete Darren Clark to the club to help improve players speed . That didn’t work either.
I was just making a point about running styles.
I really don’t know if Staines is a good buy or not but a bit of pace never goes astray on the flanks.eg The Fox.👍🏻
Big test for Staines up against Sivo. So we’ll see if he’s worth it?

Why do you suppose he played 10 11 and 12?
Assuming it’s not a rhetorical question there are only a few possible reasons.
Maybe he felt that he wanted to show some mental toughness, maybe he felt he would be ok to play or maybe the Coach said, we need you and pushed him to play.
Or maybe their is another reason I’ve haven’t thought of.

Cam Murray, Victor Radley, Liam Martin all not overly tall and weigh in at around 100kgs at best. They are not big men, but are 3 of the best back rowers in the game.
With the speed of today’s game, smaller but aggressive back rowers can get the job done.
