Apisai Koroisau #263

I agree, just a bit of harmless banter with his teammates, some people are just desperate to be outraged.
I reckon Api may have been drunk on joy and happiness winning another grand final....the sarcastic snicker apparently upset a few who are a bit sensitive and if I was a WTs player I would let it go because the performance they put in this year is well below average and Api will lift these powder puffs up another level...apart from a quarter of our team that tried all year the rest couldnt hold a candle to Apis resume, they should take it as a wake up call and realise it takes hard work and quite a bit of talent to win GFs....in my opinion, nothing to get overwhelmed with...play on...

Looking at the environment and consistency of the Panthers celebrations it's clear they have zero respect for anyone else. Some of the things they are saying across the board is ordinary. Reality is it's gonna take something special to beat the Panthers come finals time over the next few years & most of the guys know it as well. With Ivan at the helm they are now my #1 team want to see beat next season.

Re Api, is it a bad look sure but lets be real next year we will be lucky not to be bottom half of the ladder, the year after pending new recruits who knows. Right now our roster isn't a chance of competing for the title. Api will dig in and be one our best performers - have zero doubts.

Yep. And zero recruitment since Madge. It seems the club has already written off 2023. So why not give Madge that year rather than pay him out. It would have given him this whole World Cup to try to recruit some of his Kiwis. Then if Sheens still wanted to take his job he could have in 2024 anyways.
You don't know what Sheens has quietly been working on.

We DeMaNd ResPekT!

We are a fully serious respectable club.
If you don't earn respect, you aren't given respect. Seems like too many of our fans no longer care that the club is constantly being put down when trying to do just that.

To fight to perform better on the field is one thing, to non-stop have to fight the medias degradation and now our own recruits belittling us publicly? To become a respectable club this sort of thing cannot fly.

It seems some have become immune to being laughed at for the club they support.. Yeh-mediocrity alright.

No... Just don't like my team being made fun of... Quite sick of it really... The fact some of the fan base are used to it is telling.... We are at rock fn bottom and this will never sit well with me

We're starting from the Wooden spoon and I dare say Api was a little drunk.

Its a long road back to credibility. I'm trusting that Sheens, Benji and Robbie will be working hard to turn this all around in the background.

We'll know whether his heart is actually in it next year.

They’ve been that way for some time now. Extremely arrogant. They played a great game and Parra blinked. They’re beatable by the right team. Melbourne for instance.

Correct, IMHO, Madge failed to deliver, under his command we even went backwords from where we were under Cleary.
There was a hope that Maguire would further improve our defence, identify the gaps and implement the missing structures, unfortunately he failed. He just played it safe and re-cycled the same (mediocre, hopeless) players. Also, there were rumours that some players left us because of him, and that in general he "lost the locker room".
As we know, doing the same thing over and over again, and expect a different result is the life cycle of a disaster. IMHO, we had to try something different, and Sheens is the only coach that already delivered. With a possible exception of Bellamy, imho, he is our best option to break the downward spiral.

I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt when possible, and Api has handled himself admirably when asked about his move to the Tigers over the last few weeks. He had a belly full of piss and had no doubt spent a good portion of the hours leading up to his gaffe being heckled by his Panthers teammates. No real harm done, and I sure he regrets it as well.

All that aside, no one in their right mind moves on 1 of the best hookers in the game over a minor mishap like that. We signed Api to do a job, and leaving this in the past is the best way to ensure he does it.

Agree with all this. The amount of people saying we should rip up the contract. I mean, first of all: we can't. We've spent half the season demanding Papali'i honour what he signed and now we're apparently meant to sack a guy for making a joke? Get real.

Second: talk about the sin of pride. We're getting one of the best players from the benchmark team in the comp having just got the wooden spoon ourselves. I'd have liked Koroisau to keep his mouth shut but let's be real: he isn't moving here because he thinks it's a step up in quality.

He's made a rod for his own back with this stuff, because if he doesn't put in next year people aren't going to forget the suggestion that he wasn't really up for it. Ditto Papali'i. Hopefully that knowledge only sharpens their approach as professionals - it'll certainly increase their chances of enjoying the next stage of their careers.

I completely agree. Furthermore, I don't think that either player will be coming here to tank. Api is coming here from the best team in the comp and would want to prove he is an elite player in his own right, and Paps is relatively early in his career. His performance over the next 3 years will determine if his next contract is a big pay day for him or just some scraps. I think both are great signings and I'm excited to see what they bring both on and off the field.
