Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hastings has played well at 13 for WTs and that is where Sheens wants him to play. Hastings believes he is a 7. There is a shortage of halves in the NRL. The Knights appeared to have missed Brooks. The media report the Knights have now approached Hastings.
Generally speaking, if a lock was paid more money than a halfback, Hastings probably would want to play lock.
It more about the money and prestige than anything else imo.

Which year in Brooks' career do you believe the Tigers would have played finals with a different halfback?
Andrew John's could have done it but rettired or the two years of Taylor ball with Teddy still there but I think the best year would have been under Potter with Robbie Gate if that did not happen or left behind closed doors the team was heading to the semis

Taylor had a talented team but did very little with them it's a shame we did not get Clearly 1 year earlier to work with the group

I thought it was 800k, 900k is unbelievable imo.
I wonder if AD is wanting to be a manager full time.
If he pulls off the 900k over 3yrs then a lot of players might want his services 🤣
It's not based on talent the 900K but being desperate and needing to spend the cap the dolphins could pay him 1.6 the first year if they have alot of can space and 550K for the next two years could work out good for them

I just don't think we look like a professional organisation by moving on a player who most pundits from the outside looking in could see made a difference to the performance of the team - even with his limitations -by persisting with the local junior most likely, who for a myriad of reasons has not reached anything near the level that was anticipated, has been given an age to get there, and by all reports also was ready to move on.

The whole bringing back Sheens and Benji, Brooks being voted half back of the year and us playing finals would be the best rugby league story ever but if it goes to crap - more egg on our face and you would have to question their judgement.
Love what Sheens and Benji did at this club - best years of footy ever for me - but if it becomes all about them instead of the best decisions for the club moving forward can't support that. Ready for and need an NRL fairy tale story.

Honestly have no idea how you came up with that.

Benji, has gave up real dollars to be back in the footy scene and at a club he loves. What benji and Tim have done to club Honestly do not understand why people think the way you do.

I love Benji but won't blindly back everything he says or does if I don't agree with it. He has great self belief which I admire, but the decisions he makes now don't just impact him they impact the future of the club and if they come off all accolades to him but he can't escape scrutiny for his new role based on the achievements of his past.

Hastings has a very good football brain and is u.tra competitive. When He first came to us other teams would rush up on him and that would allow his ball playing skills to create opportunities for other players.
Teams quickly worked him out and would hang off him as there was zero chance he could burn them off with speed.

Dont get me wrong, he is probably a better no7 than any other player we have on our books, but I don’t see him as the player to take us to the next level

That's fine don't get how you say he makes it all about him.

It's no secret he is up against it.

Hastings got our players running on the ball with passion, for a change. He was like a traffic cop and seemed to have all the time under the sun to do it. I would be very sorry to see him go early as we are yet to see all that he has to offer, due to his injury. We definitely played much better when he was in the side.

I’m a fan of AD & Hastings an don’t want to see either leave unless they are upgraded / replaced by a top shelf halfBack.

I think Hastings is possibly our best player. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that I think he has the most influence on the team performing well. I think AD is potentially our best player.

The problem is the money these guys are after. Are these guys in the top halves in the comp ? To me they are nowhere near it. Are these guys going to give us or any team 3 good seasons if you sign them for that long ?

The problem is atm they appear to want top dollar contracts without proving they are worth that money.

Our spine is a mess and these guys playing the game for every additional cent they can get doesn't help.
