Tony, they get buses full of well meaning folk from Cremorne and Avalon through Auburn every Saturday. To expose them to how the other half lives. Foodie tours, or some such crap. Some smart bloke is probably squeezing them for $75 a head. Their faces are pressed up against the bus windows in a combination of terror, amazement and confusion . . . as they gawk and point.
They take them to Giazentep, the old Turkish delight next door before it closed, Harkola, etc, etc. They buy up spices and ingredients that haven't yet migrated North of the Parramatta river. Put name tags on 'em, and everything. Don't need the ID's . . . you can pick their pale, bewildered faces a mile off.
I love enaging with them and watch the amazement on their faces when I speak proper English.
Yes mate, a bit of culture won't hurt anyone 🤣
