John Bateman #268

Wasn't discussing recruitment was discussing Bateman.
Predictable sidestep - not referring to Bateman
There is nothing to sidestep and Bateman is a quality player, an international with aggressive on-field play and a desire to win. Bateman forms part of the recruitment drive and when called out, you obfuscate.

I can see Bateman being a more aggressive Liam Fulton.

He's a Sheens calibre player, through and through.

Under their coaching- I can see him being massive for us.

Our pack is elite quality for 2023.
Well done to the team, putting together a line up like that !

Well written. I'll add also the precise way the club went about clearing top 30 spots for new recruits set a new bar for retention/recruitment at WTs. This is the hidden gem in this process.

I am sure the Tigers have done their due diligence on his character.

Now with his wife from Australia, his previous legitimate reasons for returning to the UK and our coverage in the backrow with talented youth, there is nothing to worry about!

He will bring leadership, experience, line speed, intensity & he's a winner!

If brown doesn't come

Ya reckon Talau 13 , Smith 18?

I've been critical of Sheens but our roster has improved out of sight. Sure we have unproven guys in critical spine positions and our outside backs haven't been great. The thing is next year we have a good pack and that may make a difference to a bunch of players.

We also don't have anywhere near the injuries we had to kick off last season.

Looks good on paper ......but paper can become very good for wiping your ass if need be

First 3 games are very winnable on paper as well ...lets hope we still have our piece of paper Rd 4 v Melbourne ......

Such a contrast to our ‘22 pack isn’t it. Can’t wait to see how they (hopefully) gel next year! The best thing is with this kind of proven experience/quality in the pack we can take our time easing young guns into first grade, giving them a taste with plenty of support around & hopefully setting them/us up to succeed for many years to come. Also I wonder how Twal will develop now that he is surrounded by a few world class forwards.

Onwards & upwards! 🐯💪

I don't have Twal in my 17 if we get Brown.

Twal is a decent player with great defence but has to work on his offence. After seeing what Pole did last year him and Offa on the bench as middles for me.

Agreed, Garner will shine At Penrith , I would not be surprised if he played Rep football this year
I would. Bloke is 27 and has been at Manly, Roosters, Tigers and now his 4th club. He's got plenty of ability but that's almost a decade of drifting in and out of matches and I'm not sure what he needs to get himself to a consistent first-grade level, let alone rep footy.
