Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s been a few days since I checked this and about 100 pages so I’m gunna take a guess the topics spoken about
1) Wakeham and why we didn’t leave the spot open for Mitch Moses
2) some 15 year old who’s gunna step up into first grade
3) some player talk from the 80s
4) brooks slander
Actually, I haven't seen much on here re Wakeham.

Likewise a little from the 80's, mainly Benny Elias. Trying to remember if Terry Lamb punched him unprovoked or did we stir him.

A little but not much re lower grades.

Yes, a stack RE Brooks.

The PNG players have never been exposed to the training or coaching standards in the NRL systems. This means they may take longer to adjust but when they do, you have a very good player eg Marcus Bai. Many play in PNG barefoot and with malaria. The tougher it gets, the more they like it just like Olam.
It's insane there.

So on the coast you have people training almost daily, but no idea what they are doing. As a friend said "I have no idea what muscle they are trying to stretch in that exercise" (i.e. they were copying stuff off TV wrong.). People divorce and KILL over State of Origin.

The highlands though, OMG. If you get the recruitment right there you will find some guys who make Martin Taupau look weak.

The first club to get it right with recruitment in PNG will strike a gold mine of talent. The PNG ladies are just as tough. They steamed past us on a steep grade on the track balancing huge baskets on their heads filled with coconuts and with huge smiles on their faces. Beautiful people.

Hope Junior does well but I don’t see him playing much unless we got no choice. Unless Nofa does something stupid or injuries and suspension come in, I can’t see him making our 17. Staines may even get first crack at wing over him given his speed, unless Staines is playing Fullback.
You'd only really take ;

Reid, Burton, Kiraz, JAC

Maybe Kikau

Maybe Topine, Casey
Yeah not as good as I was expecting.

Still hate em though .

I known how the dogs are able to buy all these players , at McDonald’s if u buy the big Mack meal u get 2 free signing with every one brought, I guess that’s how the others cheats the rooooters do it 🥴

The dogs are the modern version of the roosters from 30-40 years ago when they were known as the transit lounge. They buy big names every year but have to release the big names they bought from last year or the year before to do it.It does not work very well and only makes the club look bad by being forced to subsidise players contracts to play elsewhere.

As a Papua New Guinean, you have just scratched the surface. A guy placed his own Daughter as a bet for Origin.

The lack of a school boys system really hurt the game here. We need that up and running so that many kids have footy as a valuable career path. That's why more kids from Fiji are coming to Australia compared to PNG

PNG is in Queensland isn't it?

In this day and age it’s very hard to buy premierships I’m looking forward to seeing how the to different approaches go

Our approach develop young jrns then recruit the odd high end player here and there

There approach by the best talent on the market

I was talking to my doctor a few weeks ago (Marty Roebuck former Rugby fullback) and he took Braidon Burns under his wing for a year while he was a boarding student at Stanies College in Bathurst and was a friend of Marty’s son.
