Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They’re making space for someone.
Brooks is definitely a 7 though.

As I've said, It's too quiet for there to be nothing happening....
Even the likes of Kyle Flanagan maintain some form of discussion...

I think at the risk of looking stupid (Again), Wherever he's going isn't announcing it...
Or
Not being a fan of the noise, The Player has requested his signing not be released.

The mouth pieces trying to justify their opinion by claiming that he has no offers wouldn't know their arse from their elbow...

I thought the change in his demeanor in the last few months meant he'd has his future sorted one way or the other... He's looked like a bloke who's dropped the baggage.

The team was starting to come together and play positive football and commentators were remarking on our improvement, in the space of two weeks the board and management signed a new recruitment manager whilst not informing the previous/ current head of football and current coach and also moved on a contracted current player in a mid season transfer. What a way to disrupt team harmony and put your head coach offside.
It oozes pathetic managment.

This is so over the top. Firstly I am really confident that Sheens and the coaching staff were heavily involved in moving on Joe O. Secondly if the team start playing poorly because there is a new recruitment manager we basically have to sack all our players because if a player's form drops that easily he is useless to any club.

Hey I have a signing suggestion/Rumour.

We actually do some defensive training?
WOW
What a rumour.

Seriously. that game us vs Melbourne showed that we have serious defensive gaps. It also shows we can't adapt after 4 tries were scored against us on the wing.

This is Basics Football 101.
We cannot recruit a teams defense. Sure we can recruit a defensive centre, but if the team doesn't combine and follow a defensive strategy. Were done.

Could be Greg Ingles at Centre, were done if we are not training hard, doing the wressle and prepping for defense.
Our defence will improve when Brooks returns

I agree, it’s also possible that WT know that Brooks has solid offers and responded with a demand for a decision by Sunday with their backhand low ball offer. Either way it certainly looks like Brooks has had enough of the immature petty politics from the board and is on his way.
I’m very much looking forward to watching an unshackled Luke Brooks at 7, regardless of the team he is in.

Gus said on 100% footy Brooks is signed, but he wouldn’t say which club, he did say it’s not Tigers, Bulldogs or Saints. But we know he lies, it might be Canterbury, he was adamant the deal is done

Being in the media & having so many contacts
in the league is so wrong. He's CEO of a rival
club. He knows when players are coming or
going before their own clubs. Huge conflict of
interest. How is he even commentating games

Unshackled, shackled, wearing a gimp mask, Brooks of any persuasion is still shit.

That just makes him a rugby league expert. Wouldn’t it be great to have some of those running our club. Before you tell me how poor the Bulldogs are going, look at the superstar players they are able to sign. 2023 has been wrecked by injuries and having a young halfback. They are actually on the up.

Mate, note sure about that last part...it would
be pretty hilarious if they signed Brooks though!

The Canberra Raiders want to avoid the Ben Hunt rumour mill unless the unhappy St George Illawarra Dragons halfback is genuine about his desire to seek a new start at another club outside of Queensland.

Hunt appears determined to leave the club with two-and-a-half years remaining on his NRL contract, despite the Dragons' best efforts to keep him against his will, denying his management's release request on Sunday.

Green Machine supporters are eager to see the Raiders throw their hat in the ring to fight for Hunt's signature should he depart the club.

Even though Canberra rates the Maroons star highly, and Hunt's camp are keeping their options open, the Raiders' hands are tied while he's still signed to the Red V until the end of 2025.

"We can't approach Ben's manager because he's got a contract," Raiders coach Ricky Stuart told The Canberra Times.

Until the Raiders' halves succession plan becomes clearer with five-eighth Jack Wighton's exit to Souths looming at the end of this season, the uncomfortable reality is Canberra will keep being mentioned as potential suitors for halves on the open market, along with other teams in need of a boost in that area.

If Hunt does leave the Dragons, it will ignite a chaotic round of musical chairs in the NRL following Luke Brooks' decision to depart Wests Tigers just over a week ago.

Other notable playmakers not locked in for next season include Shaun Johnson and Jaeman Salmon.

The Raiders would need to make an attractive offer to lure Hunt away from moving closer to family in Queensland, with the Gold Coast Titans best placed to snatch the 33-year-old from the Dragons.

Current Canberra No.7 Jamal Fogarty is currently signed until the end of next season, and back-up halves Brad Schneider, 22, and Matt Frawley, 28, could step up in place of Wighton, however, they are both off-contract after this year.

The club is still working out what the future looks like without Wighton. (DT)

I just watched 100% Footy & Gus didn't give anything away when he said Brooks is committed and asked who to. It's up for interpretation so can't take anything from it.

It sounds like even Brooks has realised that Sheens is at least a decade out of touch with the game, only the muppets running our club and an alcoholic from Murdoch Media would have thought it was a good idea to have him coaching again.

Salmon to Raiders 😂

I like Schneider. has never looked out of place in first grade and has a toolkit that is ideal to play behind our pack. short kicking game unlocks opposition defences, throws a decent pass on either side and isn't afraid to run the footy when he sees something. also a very underrated support player.

if he signs, the club clearly believes that there is something to be salvaged from this season. if Brooks is truly leaving, moving him to 6 and having Schneider play 7 could see us go on a run in the last few weeks.

I think he is doing a good job in developing Benji and Co.
He has brought the best out of Brooks and even though he might leave he has played a lot better under Sheens. I have no problems with the coaching set up.

If we are been honest we are just lacking a decent 7 and we would be close to the 8.
That's my only concern is the halfback position.

Unless Sheens/Benji said something along the lines of give us '3 months to try to turn the joint around'.
Additionally, I still haven't seen anything other than media speculation about him wanting to leave, just confirmation of him not accepting their first offer.
Where's there's smoke there's fire, if multiple sources are reporting the same thing then there in all probability has some truth to it.
