Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pay what it takes to get George Williams at WTs. ESL contracts are not as lucrative now and we could afford him. He's a great player with the same spirit as Bateman.
he's just signed a 3 year deal with Warrington to stay there, one of the most expensive deals in Super League history. there is no way he comes back to Australia any time soon.

A bit of a digression. Apart from Latu & Samuela Fainu, there isn't anyone else in Manly's top 30 that Fulton could recruit from his old club (except Paseka but I think he's a marshmallow) that may become available.

Looking at lower grades, I wonder whether he'll go for SG Ball halfback Tyler Bunting who made the Junior Blues squad this year. Could form a halves partnership with Iverson Matai in JF next season.

Other than him, I would try to bring across Jake Toby on a NSW Cup contract only (dynamic fullback who would offer more than Ogden, Camroux & Peni). His experience would help this team also.

Any others?

Not really across Manly lower grade talent but Scott Fulton's job has to involve much more than attempting to recruit kids from one source.

if you want to hear my conspiracy theory, Fulton was brought in as a measure to keep the vast majority of our youngsters, as he has a great relationship with Tartak. Tartak subsequently manages a number of our gun juniors, namely the cream of the crop from our undefeated Matts side from '22 (Da Silva, the Laulili'i's, William Craig, Miller and a few others).

Fulton being brought in was a measure to keep Tartak onside and to ensure we don't lose any of the kids. the Fainu's are merely a bonus, as is Haumole if the rumours are to be believed. this appointment was made to ensure that we maintain our mantra of being a 'development club' irrespective of how much of an issue it was going to be with Marshall, Sheens and McDonnell.

now while Fulton has a number of very good relationships with a stack of managers in the league, the press, north-west Sydney and a number of players, it reeks of Joe Webhe / Isaac Moses circa-2016.

you can look at it from two ways. one is that Hagipantelis, the board and Pascoe have managed to be proactive to ensure that we retain our gems. the other is that they have succumbed to player manager pressure and have created considerable internal conflict. you decide.

I know his name has come up previously but Kayal Iro the 2022 NSW Cup player of the year is currently looking for a new club given his pathway at the Sharks is limited, may be a good centre signing.
He would be great. I'd even swap with Asu Kepaoa for him. Both centre/backrowers but Iro is a potential long-term solid centre.

surely this Board is not that smart

That’s really bad .. 6 Tigers in the Bald Eagles line up .. Pasaki, Aloiai, Tuilagi, Woods, Brooks, and Talau.
I agree, you are almost making me feel sorry for the Eagles!

Honestly, Aloiai and Tuilagi we kinda miss a little bit. But would rather have Klemmer and Paps.

Sheens probably rightly has steered away from Woods. IMHO it wouldn't have taken much to bring him back.

I really don't think this is to appease Tartak.
The board needed someone who would put the Board first over Sheens.
McDonnell, I doubt would knife Sheens as Sheens got him back. We may have to consider letting Sheens go as with a side far greater then any Madge had, were 17th. It's unacceptable

Fulton gives the board options and gives the board access to the Manly/North shore talent pool.

Conflict is OK! Conflict is fine. Shulster is the perfect example, Fulton was in favour, Benji against. They work though the differences and say no.

Far out Tigers, stop being inbred.
Sheens,
Marshall,
Farah,
Chris Heighington I believe too is with our team.

The only guy outside the club running around is Dave Furner. We cannot keep turning inward like this. We need new ideas and new people to bring these ideas. The board made the right call and snatched a person from outside.

Manly will implode under Siebold soon. We are in a decent position.

I wouldn't say Furner is outside the club either. Came through under Sheens in Canberra.
