Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nobody wanted to admit it because he turned
on us, but it was as clear as day that Moses
was the better of the 2, he just needed to grow
up physically and mentally. Always better though -
running, linking, passing, kicking, goal kicking.
Glad to see the back of Brooks after 10 years
of failures, not just on his part but failures none
the less. Happy to give some new halves a crack
Moses was better when they played Flegg. I think I mentioned it at the time!

Seyfarth has been one of our most creative, if not our most creative forwards prior to his injury. His ball playing has seen our forwards make breaks/half breaks and his impact off the bench is good. He would also be on a modest contract which is required in a 30 player squad. Why spend all the time nuturing him, after all he has come through our juniors only to let him leave so another club can enjoy all our hardwork?
Who are you moving on from our current top 30 for next season to accommodate him? And there is most definiltey only room for a mximum of one of either Seyfarth and Tasi James. Who are you picking?

Would Seyfarth even take another one year deal with us?

He's still a weak forward that struggles in attack and defence.

i hope you're right...

but again thats hope...

he takes up $500K worth of space and a potential "half" signing we could go for next year ... not an insignificant... plus its a 3 Year deal -- not 2.

if it was 2 - then id say ok - worse case you carry him for a year... but we always take players for that extra year too long IMO
There is not a chance in hell we'd be looking at signing him for 3 years at 500k. Not in a million years would he get an offer like that from any club.
He's still essentially a nobody with potential. Dragons got suckered in.

At 2 years x 300-350k he's a decent backup that may progress. And a mutual/club option for a third year.

here's a tidbit in a DT article today mainly about Max Feagai getting shopped.

"Sullivan is expected to join the Tigers next season on a deal likely to be up to four years. A straight up three-year offer with an option for a fourth year is being discussed."
His agent may discuss a 3+1 deal but i reckon there's more chance of our club winning the premiership than that happening.
And if our football department do go for it then they should get sacked.
He's a fringe first grader. You don't sign fringe first graders on long term deals, unless you're incredibly unprofessional.

This rhetoric does my head in . What are we supposed to do ? As recently as last year , the word on him “he’s a star” . He’s lacked motivation all year , and who knows why . He has tried all year to leave that joint , all 3 of their big 3 did .
If memory serves me , this was exactly the rub on Mitchell Moses , especially when he quit on us . “Weak gutted Pea heart” got thrown around on here a lot .
All we can do, if we can’t get proven talent , is sign guys with pedigree . We have spent the last 5 years with “first graders” in our halves . How’s that gone ?
From lolohea to Mbye to brooks to Reynolds to Hastings to AD. None of which ever had the raps on them that both Sullivan and Fainu do .
I’m glad we are rolling the dice on the halves . In a post brooks world , the serviceable halves path would have been akin to death by a thousand cuts .
The comment about hope is ridiculous . To support a club like this , and not have hope is completely futile . What is actual point . It’s such counter intuitive nonsense .
There’s so much criticism . But not much alternatives offered . What do you guys want Sezer / Austin ? Cogger? Haha please we might as well have Mbye Reynolds . Or Wakeham again .
It’s like some of you have Alzheimers about how shit our attack has looked for years . Brooks sometimes offered something , the rest was as I said death by a thousand cuts .

Also I’ll back the sheenius and his ability to develop spine players . He’s proven he can identify and unearth them and develop them .
Just off the top of my head we have Bula, Lui , moltzen, Benji, Robbie , TMM, he rejuvenated Princes career ,also he and McDonnell spotted Moses when Parra said he was too small .
We may not win many games , but the guy can at least go “yep that guy “ when picking. A spine player . And he’s said that guy to Sullivan . Apparently .

Maybe we can do a straight swap Sullivan for Nofa, both on inflated contracts lol

There is a chance we don't move forward with either Seyfarth or Tasi James. With Samuela Fainu coming in, Faagutu likely promoted to top 30 and Sione Fainu able to play both lock/prop, Seyfarth & James may be on the outer.

I consider him to be a 13 who can fill in at second row as he did during the Bronco's win last year at Suncorp. Your James v Seyfarth comparison is not one I agree with. Seyfarth has more to offer with his impact from the interchange, ball skills, ability to play a link role and put teammates into space. He is in the 30 in 2023, but obviously I am not privy to deliberations on the top 30 in 2024 but hope he stays. Note I believe a space must be found for Faagutu is near top priority. He is going to be a very good forward.

Inflated is subjective with the shortage of 6s and 7s in the NRL. It is supply v demand and with the increase in the salary cap $500pa for a young half may be the going rate albeit the Dragons may be tipping in some $. Our club has no choice but to go to market, either recruit or suffer through another season like 2023. The club has done well if we can obtain Sezer, Fainu and Sullivan.

Sullivan will be a gun half at the Tiger's my Dragons mate highly rates him and his son was a top Illawarra Junior winning 7 junior premiership and around the same age as Sullivan has seen alot of Sullivan play he is telling me we have sign the next Scott Prince

I'm back home in the Illawarra and Sullivan is well thought of among Steeler supporters. The joke going around the Illawarra is room is being made for junior.

Hope he can win the Churchill medal next season.

With our luck, if he does it will be because he has signed somewhere else.

Ok, who do you suggest we get instead?
This point always gets forgotten, doesn't it? The Tigers need two halves for next year and there isn't much on the market. Sezer and Sullivan look about the best two available, and we're a decent chance of getting both of them - and probably for less combined than Brooks is making this year. Might not be the greatest business of all time but it's the best business that's plausibly an option as of now.

Noddy would have known what he was in for.
I think he would have been advised others would pick the side, just coach what your given, do the press conference and we will look after you for next year.
You get to coach the women's side and we are recruiting to have a top notch side-------happy with that. YES!
You're probably right but that doesn't make an absolute dog of a job any easier to do. Glad he got the job with our ladies team this year and very happy it's gone so well so far.
