Justin Pascoe

Incredibly measured. Spoke well about the club and didn't burn it down on his way out. Very professional.

Lee on the other hand...
No he didn't - he hung the Board out to dry!!

Didn't have "the line of authority to do what I wanted to & with speed"

Meanwhile 328 weeks ago (with pre-Chairman Lee by his side):

Who do you reckon the supposed unnamed Board members who told him not to resign were??

I just think it was nice to hear his side of the story I dare say Lee was way more of a problem then Justin
Yea, thinking about it. You're right.

I really never saw too much wrong with our 'Back of house' stuff. If I criticize Pascoe it's over Leichaert taking way too long to rebuild and refurb. Sure a few press releases he fluffed, meh.

As a club, our back of house stuff was far worse 2005-2010. Balmain was basically broke somehow. Wests Ashfield was bankrolling the magpies and every board meeting was Wests vs Balmain. Heck they almost forgot to renew Tim Sheens contract and hadn't even thought of that stuff.

^they honestly make Lee look good. Disfunction only rivaled by Manly and Parramatta boards.

Back of house stuff won't win games!

Pascoe did not manage the trainers nor the sporting development side though. That was left to the Coach and let slip. Sheens as head coach should have ensured the right support staff were around.

It was the front of house that was the problem and Lee did not have football expertise.
Lee's decision to renew Nofa on 500k and for 5 (was it 5 or 4 years??) was insane. At the time I thought it was rich,... but clearly Nofa was a problem at training and clearly being mishandled. Lee's backing of Nofa, helped set in a rot that became worse in 2022/2023. ...

Justin made some mistakes no doubt but his ability to get us back on track financially was pretty dam good , we need to consider how poor we were on field and results but still managed to keep sponsors and go from bankrupt basically to going well , things he would have been made to do by the board would have been plenty and when it turned to shit he copped it , i think if he did start with us today it would be a very different run club , I think deep, down he loved the club but hayour board was shit for years , Lee was given to much say and power as a sponsor , this will never happen again , well not open to the public as was last few years

We’d have a lot more in the bank if we were a competitive team, as confirmed by JP on that pod.

That's all you took out of a 2 hour interview?

Well what else was there? I heard Pascoe talking about a supposed data driven approach to recruitment. What data suggested it was a good idea to pay overs for a crocked Josh Reynolds?? I don't think there has been another CEO to have let so much talent slip away from a club and shanked so many key decisions.

He doesn't even love rugby league - let alone the club!!

I doubt he ever watches another game!

Her loved the lifestyle the CEO role afforded him - nothing else!

You people are so gullible it is beyond comprehension!!!

This post makes zero sense and is grossly historically inaccurate!!

What do you think the CEO role entails??

How about Pascoe's salary cap fiasco etc... bugger fluffed press releases!!!

Or the fact that it was never the Chairman's role to insert themselves into player negotiations...

These reflect how far Pascoe was out of his depth.

Please do some reading and actual thinking before you type!

Have you not watched the Bold and the Beautiful?
I did. Got boring after the original Ridge left. Had a much more surly bed side manner than the current one who presents himself like a bit of a boy scout. Not for me.

Look mate, I'm no supporter of Pascoe. I'm just in favour of a balanced view. There was a lot he didn't get right, but I also thought he got panned unfairly at times too. I also believe that someone cannot be 100% bad. He did some good things for the club too.

You've layed the blame of the Josh Reynolds signing at his feet. Do you also give him credit for Api? At least be fair is my point.

Agree, he didn’t do everything wrong, but I think it’s a case of him being a decent corporate administrator in a sports administration role. He didn’t prioritise making the team successful. He said “let’s get the business side right first” which is a very corporate way of thinking. Unfortunately sports clubs are in the business of winning.
Also, the “I’d rather people make mistakes than do nothing” - that’s a little silly given clubs are under scrutiny for mistakes they make.

He’s also been pretty good at saying he’s ultimately accountable, but subtly evading any direct responsibility.

He’s done another interview:

Pascoe v2
I enjoyed the “I’m not going from Hollywood to Penrith” comment. Not sure that was the right thing to say…

Don’t know of many other CEOs that go on a podcast tour after they’ve been let go. Could be a PR play so he’s not unemployable. Also, if you believe the rumours he applied for multiple jobs before he was axed, so he knew it was coming.
